I've never been to any type of support group meetings. Didn't even know that any online ones.

Yes...I attend one group run at the hospital where I had surgery and my surgeon is always in attendance. I also just joined a 2nd one run by folks from a different local hospital...it is a bit different than than my surgeon's group...and I get something out of both of them. I also consider OH a support group and post on there often as well as look at this mini-challenge as a support group as well...I feel attending these groups will keep my eyes on the prize toward my goal weight!

The only support groups I know of are an hour away for me so I haven't gone. I go to sites on OH and learn a lot, though. But sometimes I wish I could meet with others inn person. Jolene

Try talking to your surgeons office staff they can maybe help you get some connections in your area. Mine has connected me up for clothing exchanges. Which we need. Take Care Always johesn56

We are strting a new group up here so will hopefully be going about every couple of weeks. Otherwise I get my support here online or at work where a couple of my coworkers have had surgery Lori

I try to get to a local support group meeting the first tuesday of the month. I visit the boards 5 times a week, which is a great form of support too.

I attend weekly at kaiser. It's a small intimate group of about 6 women or so, but it's so helpful. Our little group is going to Disneyland this coming Thursday since we can all now ride on the rides.. WooHoo!! How fun huh?

Prior to my surgery I went all the time, then the day got changed and I was not able to go as often. After my surgery I felt that I was getting bad advise from the leader as he told me that I could not eat things I was eating and had the blessing of my nut. His comment was that the nut had not been through this procedure and all their knowledge came from books. His knowledge came from experience. I have not been to a meeting since 54 days after my surgery due to him....and I am almost 11 months out now, and down 152 pounds so guess my nut gave me good advise after all. Gayle
