Do you attend support group meetings? How often? And, in person OR online only?

The last Thursday of every month at the clinic where I had my surgery.

I attended every support group meeting for about the first year at the hospital where I had my surgery - but then, I started missing one every now and then, and haven't been back in months. I think about it now and then, but it's quite a drive (in Los Angeles traffic), and I get all the support I need from friends, family, and OH now.

My hospital is over an hour away, and between the Minnesota weather and the drive through the Twin cities, I don't go. I am on the local state board and we have groups that meet for coffee and support weekly.

I found a local support group since my surgery was done in Ohio and I live in Indiana. I just went there tonight. The doctor who does the surgeries out here is great and his groups are open to anyone who wants to come. I miss sometimes but I try to get there every month when I can.

I was trying to go about once a month because it is a 45 min drive, and since I moved at the beginning of the month, I havent been to one here yet, but Ive heard they have them monthly. Vivienne

Not anymore. I've been to 2 of them, but being I was the ONLY DS'er, well.. it wasn't really for me.

I had been going to one or two a month until lately. Life took over and I was too busy to go, but I'm going to start again this month. I find them very inspiring and they help me get re-focused when I start to get discouraged or stray off the right path.

I have two support groups that I attend. I try to make at least one each month. It has been working out just fine. Jules

I attend a small monthly support group for pos-ops only (about 12 of us) and the general monthly support group for pre and post-ops. I try to go to some of the fitness support groups also. Those are held bi-weekly, but I haven't been able to make many of those. All of the groups that I attend are an hour away for me at the hospital where I had my surgery, and the exercise groups seem to be made up mostly of preops, so it's harder to stay motivated to attend those.
