I'm not there yet, and I've never been there, so I don't really know the answer. But I'm willing to bet that the answer will variate slightly for everyone. For me, I plan to stay focused and keep doing what I'm doing now because my new habits are giving me success. Also, I have a goal in mind, but as I get closer to it, I may have to adjust it. I'll see how I feel as time goes on. We should all keep in mind that our goals have to be realistic to our body type and age. Because I've never been at "goal," I'm not sure what weight is actually right for me, but I firmly believe that if I keep doing what the doctors tell me I should do, I will utimately end up where I'm supposed to be. I hope that's not a pipe dream!
This is really interesting, because I've thought about this many times...
Many of us have commented that we've never been within 20 pounds of our goals, so we don't know how it will play out. This is so true! But first, we have decide what that last 20 is!
My original goal was 150, but when I got to 149, I felt too thin! I know that's crazy, but I'm in a size four comfortably, so I revised my final goal to 155. I'm very happy with that, and so is my surgeon. I think it's important that we stay flexible and remember that the number on the scale is JUST A NUMBER! What's important is that we feel good and are healthy!
I've been bouncing around between 149 and 160 for the past many months, and it's driven me nuts. My perception of maintenance is that I stay the same, but realistically, that's probably not true for anyone! I'm sure that all people have little gains and losses all the time (especially us women!), and that's perfectly normal! So, my new goal is to stay between 153 and 157 - and I think that's reasonable.
So, losing those last 20 was slow, but it was matter of staying with the program, upping my exercise and changing up my diet.
