I had the RNY, I considered the Lapband but after researching I realized that the RNY was going to be best for me, good thing too because it was the only one my insurance covered!! But I am very happy with it! Had my surgery November 28th and I'm already down 84 pounds! I can't believe how good I feel!! The only regret I have had is not making the decision to have the surgery sooner! I considered it about 3 years ago and choose to wait and try other diets, which I know now was a mistake! (at least for me)

Hi Lea,
I had RNY. I was thinking about having lapband but my insurance wouldn't cover it because my BMI was to high they said and the RNY was the only one they would cover. So I guess the decision was pretty much made for me if I wanted to do anything and I did. It was a year ago on March 9th and I've lost 105 pounds so I am VERY HAPPY I had it done. My life is so much better and healither and I can do so much more. I am happy I had the RNY because the fast weight loss and how fast I started feeling better and going off ALL meds that I was on before. I am and do feel truly blessed by this surgery.
I had Lap RNY. Had I known the DS was an option, I may have looked into that as I love sweets and carbs. I needed portion control and all that jazz, so I am happy woth the choice I made. I had my 6 month follow up today and I have lost 58% of my excess, but BMI has gone from 41.5 to 30.7, I started at 261 and I am currently at 193.
I can run two miles and I am hoping to run a 5K this summer. I have never felt better than I do at this time in my life. I would do it again in a minute.
