I followed the surgeon's plan to a "T" for the first year, but then got more comfortable eating and started in with the carbs....baaaaahhhhhddddd idea as I never reached my goal or hit the "skinny" point. SO, 3 years out, I'm on day 4 of the pouch test and am thrilled with the results. I feel GREAT and the carb cravings are gone. WOOHOO! I'm hoping I can sustain! Christy

I only sawa NUT once and there was no meal plan discussion during that meeting..as far as my surgeons diet it is strictly protein first, hydrate and stay away from carbs... On special occasions I have indulged a bit in the carbs..but for the most part (98%) I am eating 6-small meals a day...protein based and drinking my water faithfully. Laura

I followed the surgeons plan for about a week post-op. Then I did my own thing. And it's worked - woohoo!

I try to follow it as best I can. I am scardof calories, so when I get close to a certain number...I stop eating for the day. I know BAD!

I followed it to a T at first - during the liquid and pureed stages. But now I am allowed to eat whatever I can tolerate so I eat according to my preferences, however...I do still get in all my vits, all my protein and all my water EVERY day.

I didn't get any specific numbers from my doc or nut, except to eat 2-3 medicine cups of food, 3 times a day...protein first. Period. I usually have a snack in the afternoon, and one in the evening (a low fat yogurt, a few slices of apple, sugar-free popsicle, pretzel rod and laughing cow cheese, something like that).

I have a pretty liberal nut and surgeon agrees with her plan. Since I am only 2 months and only eating 10tsp it is hard to get a huge amount of protein, they focus on protein first then veggies and fruit, and we are allowed carbs. My biggest issue right now is that she wants 5 grams of fat or less per meal, and I am having trouble with that one. I try to get all my fluid and vits in every day, and some kind of movement, even if not regemented exercise. I just met with her on Monday and she is very pleased with my progress this far, and has high hopes for my future!!!! Vivienne

I do try my best to follow my doctor's guidelines but there have been times where I didn't follow it to a T. I've had a stricture so long that I eat what I can and sometimes its just crackers, something my doctor would disapprove but a girls got to get something down ya know? Take care! Kellie

For the most part I listen to my surgeons suggestions but some things I kind of go with the flow. If i feel ok eating it and I know its not hurting me... than I do my own thing. Krissy
