From member suggestions: What is something that you want to do now that you have lost weight, that you didn't feel that you could do when you were bigger? Was it something that you couldn't do because of your size or was it (is it) a mental block that you had (have)? I hope this make sense to those reading it. It made sense in my head, but now reading it, it seems kind of weird!

When I was younger I used to go horseback riding all the time. I competed in shows and won several ribbons, but when I got to be to heavy, I stopped and never went back. That is one of my major goals! I want to go horseback riding again! I loved it and cant wait to go! LB

Really good question to whoever thought of it. I can't think of a really big, obvious thing, but there are just so many smaller, "normal" activities that I no longer shy away from doing. One main category is actively playing w/ our 3 little grandsons! I don't always LOVE running around in the backyard playing "baseball" (their version!) or getting down on the floor and playing w/ toys or walking down to the nearby park and helping them play at the playground--but I GLADLY do these things because (1) I love them, and (2) I can!! Another recent thing--our grown son & our s-i-l both got Wii game systems, so of course, everyone has had a ball playing with them. Back before wls, I would have been too self-conscious to get out in the middle of the room and actively play, but now I get out there & have as much fun as everyone else! What a workout!! Two of my girlfriends always ride bikes together in the summer--something I didn't do with them, not because I couldn't ride a bike, but because I had about ZERO stamina and just couldn't keep up for long. Now, the 3 of us go together, and I have more stamina than either of them do! I guess all my answers would be stuff like that--just normal, everyday activities that I couldn't do very well (or felt too awkward to participate in) that now are a "new" part of my life!

I agree with Jo - most of my new activities are just normal things... like playing Wii... but I would love to get the courage to do karaoke...

I use to be a really outgoing person, the life of the party type and had lots of friends but as the weight increased I found I alienated myself from everyone in my life and life in general. I would love to go out and spend time with friends like I use to and to actually get up and sing at karaoke bars thought I am not one to go to bars. Mainly I just want to be able to enjoy life and be able to walk and exercise and just have fun! Have a great day! Kellie

Have a baby. PCOS killed that chance before, but now I'm good to go! Well, as soon as I'm ready anyway

I want to take my kids to the amusement park this summer and ride the rides with them...also, when we go on vacation this summer to Wildwood I have always wanted to ride these "family style" bikes on the boardwalk...this summer we are going to do it!

Actually...look at life like I have a future. Before my weight loss I lived in fear of dying young because of my heart disease and family genes. I did all that I could to improve that but until I lost the weight, I still was at a high risk. I tried and tired to be successful losing weight but as most of us know, sometimes we need more help than what we alone can do. So I had WLS and so far I have lost 80 pounds. But most importantly, my heart has improved!!! So now I can live and dream of a longer, healthier life....for me, my hubby, my kids, and my grandkids! Along with the weight loss giving me life, it has given me more energy so I can do routine things like those mentioned in everyone's posts and not collapse from exertion! Great day! Jolene

I've never gone ice skating. I'd love to try it, or even roller blading. I'd love to go hiking somewhere green with lots of trees and a stream. I want to live my life instead of hiding.
