Since I am three years out, I no longer see my surgeon or nutritionist. However, I stop in the office to get my vitamins, calcium, and B12. Christy

I'm out a ways, but I saw my surgeon at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. I also go back every year during the month I had surgery for yearly check ups with the surgeon - we can see the nut in our surgeons office at any time without charge - we do pay a co-pay if we see the surgeon. I was concerned at my last appointment 10/07, because I had gained 15 lbs from my lowest weight - I was feeling dejected and a failure - my surgeon told me not to feel bad, that I still was a success - I never really got a goal weight from him - as long as my diabetes is in check (type 2) and other labs are good I'm ok - yes I would like to lose this regain (I am working on it) but I am still in great health and a success.

Yup, I follow up with them as recommended. I'm having my six month checkup a little early as my health insurance is changing. I don't need to see my nutritionist again until the one year surgiversary. I think follow up is as critical to our success as everything else we do.

I see my surgeon every few months, but I don't see the nut. The nutrition plan they have is more geared toward RNY, so I just do my own thing. Cheers!

No. With the VSG you don't really need surgeon follow ups and I don't have a nut( no ins). I do see my PCP on a regular 1 year visit. Carla

My program is the same as Lea's. I do wish we had a nut appt. at 6 months out, but it would be something I had to initiate or the surgeon requested. I was hoping for a group meeting like we did pre-op.

Well.. I had my Rny 7-11-07 so , as this date. I have seen the doctor 2 weeks after, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after my next appt is 1 year. As for the Nut, I hve only seen her two times but I do have her email if I need to ask her something. My G/p is also following up as he does not like or trust this Rny, he has had 2 patients die of it so he did not want me to have it. So he watches me very careful... I see him every other month... My surgeon has me on a schedule of follow ups.... I have seen him at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and my next appointment is for 9 months out. He is really good at keeping track of me and testing all of my levels and energy etc. My next appointment is 5/8. So far all has been great and Im hoping that I will continue to do well. Good luck to everyone else at their checkups.
