Prior to having the surgery, I only told a couple of people. I didn't want anyone to try to talk me out of it. Once I started to lose weight, I would tell anyone that asked.
I am very open about it. I figure the more I can educate people on the facts about WLS, the better. There is a LOT of misinformation out there and I think that if more people knew the facts about the surgery, there would be more acceptance and less negativity and suspicion about it.
I am open. I tell whoever asks, whoever notices. I am not ashamed but very proud of the decision I made. I would make it again, and I would tell it again.
It is my opinion, the more we tell, the more we can clear up the misconceptions.

I share it with many people because I had been so unhealthy for so long and to actually be able to do things like walk or exercise just excites me to share.
I tell everyone. If somoene comments on my weight loss, I say, "well you know I had the surgery right?" I just want people to know what a life-saver it can be!
