My favorite place is Melting Pot - expensive, but it's served family style, and you cook your own in a fondue pot. We start with a cheese fondue, in which I dip apples or carrots. Then there's salad (I usually skip this course), then the main course. They have a platter that includes all kinds of meats, poultry, and seafood. It's delicious! The only problem is that every meal ends up with chocolate fondue, and I usually blow it at that point... but dark chocolate is better than milk choc!
Coco's is great about serving from the kids' menu!
I also eat at Wendy's, Taco Bell, Del Taco... just have to make good choices and adapt! At this stage, it becomes much easier to eat wherever you happen to be!
There hasn't been a place yet that I have had a problem with. I have found most of them are wonderful once they learn I have had gastric bypass. If it is my daughter and I we order a meal and share since we have both had the surgery. We have had
Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, Bob Evans, Crackel Barrell, Penera's, Red Lobster, Denny's, Roadhouse Grill, Chili's, Dinasour BBQ, Wendy's, Perkins and some local family type dinners. I did like the selection of low carb foods that Cracker Barrel has but some are very high in fat (the whole atkins thing). I have only once ordered off the Sr. Citizens and that was at perkins because they had a 2 egg omlet which I wanted and they didn't give me any problems. If I can't order a smaller portion or split a meal with someone I just take it home for leftovers.

So far, I have been ordering a "regular" entree at most places (minus any potatoes, rice or bread) and eat 1/4 to 1/3 of it and bring the rest home to enjoy for a couple more meals! I do like Ruby Tuesday, though, and have had success there. I like that I can order an entree (fish or chicken usually) with double broccoli instead of a potato or rice. The salad bar there is also good and usually has cottage cheese, chopped hard boiled egg and black beans that give your salad some protein.
I haven't had any problems eating out. I guess the only thing is that I now ask for water, because if I don't, the waitperson usually asks why I don't want anything to drink. It's just easier to say water, than try to explain.
I stick with grilled chicken in salads or sandwiches (minus most of the bread). I haven't tried ordering off of the kids or seniors menus. I just take home the leftovers or give them to my husband. Jules
We don't eat out a lot but when we do, I try to stick with the salads because they "sit" well with my pouch. Otherwise I order regular and bring home more than half of it and I split that into two more meals! I am such a cheap date ...haha
I did find something amazing, though.....when we went to Disney World, I ordered a child's meal and didn't get any objections at all by the people working there! Restaurants are now trying hard to "health up" the kid's menu so I ordered as healthy as I could and got a child's portion and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to pay for it!
