Wow, finally home! It was a great trip, but there's a lot of catching up to do now! Today's topic: When eating out where is the best place you have found that is WLS friendly? By this, I mean several things--where do you find foods that are super-duper-pouch-worthy? where do you have no trouble ordering kids/senior items or sharing dinners or getting discounts? etc... Lea

I have had a few great experiences eating out so far. Yesterday I went to Chelo's and ordered tuna- no bread and a baked potato. I ate 1 bite of the potato and gave the rest to my boyfriend and I was able to eat about 1/2 of the tuna that I was given. Yesterday was my boyfriends birthday and he is diabetic so as we were waiting for our lunch, I was looking at the menu and they had no-sugar added cake!!! It's great that they are offering things like this. I also have eated at Longhorn Steakhouse. My boyfriend orders prime rib and they allow me to share with him with no charge. Some places charge $7 sitting fee. My last suggestion is Ruby Tuesday's. They allowed me to order from the kids menu. I got the kids mini hamburgers made with turkey - no bun and mashed cauliflower. It was really good! LB

Can't answer about the pouch thing.. don't have one, and I've never tried to order off the kids or senior menu. But I hear taco bell is good if you don't eat the shells! Cheers

I like seafood restaurants as most items are easily digested. Peel and eat shrimp is one of my faves. I also like Panera as they have fresh salads w/grilled chicken. I split an appetizer usually or take the rest home. Still can't eat very much.

I should probably wait & see what some others write so I'll have some ideas, but I'm afraid I'll forget to come back later. I have not had any problems with eating out. I rarely get "stuck" eating at a fast food place, and any other places I've gone, I've just had no issues with being able to find good choices and/or sharing dinners. Someone already mentioned Ruby Tuesday's, and I agree w/ that--I love their mashed cauliflower! I also like Friday's, O'Charley's, Chi Chi's, Applebee's, Olive Garden. Also, any nicer steak house. Every Sun., on our way home from church, my hubby & I pick up subs from Subway to take home for lunch--easy to customize, and I end up cutting off a good portion of the bun from both sides and the end. This is making me hungry--I'm on Day 2 of the 5dpt!!!

I am obsessed with Macaroni Grill's Lobster Ravioli's... They have lobster and shrimp in them and then on top they have shrimp and scallops... ton of protein! I also like olive garden cuz If you have pasta... you can have them make it with Whole Grain pasta or whole wheat pasta instead of white. I love Texas roadhouse cuz They have portobello Mushroom Chicken and Steak... Anywhere that has protein is great for me. I have no pouch problems. Krissy

Unfortunately, I have not found a place yet...I ordered from my local Chinese restaurant..cause they offer "diet dishes"...basically I got the steamed shrimp and mixed veggies and told them to hold the rice...the shrimp doesn't sit well yet for me...but somewhere down the road this will probably be somewhere I would try again. Honestly, I am a bit nervouse about eating out at this stage...so I'll take notes from the others so I know where I will be best able to go later! Lor

So far I've only eaten out at Wendy's (chili) and Taco Bell (beans and cheese). I usually eat at home.

I've been able to find things at Chili's, Taco Bell, Red Lobster and Applebees. Applebees is my favorite because of the Weigh****cher's menu...small portions and not deep fried, etc...

I don't eat fast food regularly, but if I do it is ONLY Chick-fil-a and it is a grilled chicken salad (1/2 of the salad all of the chicken). Restaurants include Ruby's, TGIFriday's, and Applebee's. But here again I don't eat out much.
