I think walking as suggested and resting as much as needed is a good help with the fatigue.

When I was newly post op I just made sure to rest when I was tired. Anymore if I'm tired I stop and re-evaluate my day...did I get enough protein, water, etc. Sometimes I get tired when I've not met my food and liquid goals and of course I ALWAYS make sure I've taken my vitamins!! But if I've done everything I'm supposed to do and I still am tired them I know I just need to give into it and rest/sleep!!

OH Boy, This is one I wish I had an answer too.. When I get that tired, I sleep, and sleep. I usually find out it happens when I am not taking my vitamins everyday, if I miss a few days, I am totally exhausted. I try and take them everyday, but there are times that I miss a few days.. Cynthia

I honestly don't remember much about this phase. Immediately post-op, my sister came and helped out around the house for several days (my dh was also very helpful). But I felt amazingly well from the time I came home from the hosp.! I followed my protocol extremely closely, which I think reallly helped. I rested a lot during the 3 wks. that I was home from work--and, of course, it helped that I didn't have children at home any more!! Before long, I started having MORE energy than I'd had for YEARS!!

I took pain meds when I needed them, and slept when my body wanted to. If that meant taking multiple naps, that is what I did. I have always needed adequate rest to keep from becoming physically ill. I just followed my body's cues.

It seems that during the recovery phase, it helped to get more water in - and to keep the protein up as much as possible. I also got in the habit (that I still keep) to take an extra B-12 or multi-vitamin whenever I feel slightly worn out. And rest, when necessary...

Followed my plan and rested when I needed. I didn't have a lot of fatigue, just a little. Jules

Get as much rest as possible and don't forget to take all supplements, protein and water, that's all I did.

When I get tired, I go to bed early.
