This one comes from the topics collected from the group... When we were pre-op most of use were using food for comfort or addiction. Now that you have lost weight, do you feel that you are going to the opposite extreme about what you eat now? For example, before you would eat a lot and all the time and now you are so worried that you will gain the weight back that you are extremely careful maybe even to the point of being anorexic. Lea

Definitely not. Which is what is so great about the malabsorption factor for me, I can still EAT! woohoo! lol Of course I don't eat as MUCH as before, but I eat all of the same things. Life is good! lol Cheers!

I can pretty much eat what ever I want. It's just that I now eat small portions.Which is why I had this surgery.I can now enjoy life and not be worried about food all the time. Patti

I haven't gotten to that point yet. I'm still very careful about what I eat, but not to the extent that I am afraid. Just careful and mindful.

I'm not really sure how to answer this one.... Before surgery I would eat when I felt happy, stressed, sad, concerned, worried...you name it, I found a reason to have something to eat... Now, as a post op I find that if I am stressed I physically CANT eat...my pouch tenses up and it hurts to eat. I wouldnt say that I am to the point of being anorexic, but I definitely dont eat for comfort anymore! (and I'm happy about it) LB

I'm definitely not afraid to eat. I'm not afraid of gaining it back because i know if i keep on it I'll be fine. I also am not a person that could ever be anorexic even though food and I dont get along real well. And Definitely no on the Bulimia front... I couldn't make my self vomit if my life depended on it LOL Krissy

Every time I put anything in my mouth I worry if this is healthy, if I eat this is six months will it lead to a re-gain? etc... I'm so happy to read posts from people saying they eat what they want, only is SMALLER portions. That sounds so normal to me. That's what I want to strive for.

I definitely pay way more attention to WHAT i eat now but I would never starve myself to keep the weight off. There really isn't a need, if you stick to the guidelines set forth by your doctor and nutritionist then there should be no need to go to extremes to keep the weight off. I enjoy a variety of good healthy food now and I never feel deprived of anything!
