My favorite food pre-op was pizza. Like many who have posted before me, it just is not the same since surgery. I can tolerate a small slice (very small) but just does not satisfy like it did before. Post operatively I would have a hard time picking one thing in particular. I eat a variety of different foods, but can't say I have a favorite. One thing I really like is a no sugar added chocolate coated ice cream bar that I get at wal-mart, but I stopped buying them because if they were at the house I ate them too often and it was getting out of control. I sure do love my plain black coffee now though. Sally

Hard one. I guess my very favorite food was homemade yeast rolls. And dressing. And chesseburgers. And pizza. Oh that's too hard. My favorite right now is pizza made with a low carb tortilla. Yummy and it also does something for my brain. Alice

General Tsao's Chicken......and fried rice. AND ice cream sandwiches!!!! Post-op, I don't have the same relationship with food. I eat most things but only small quantities of them. Sometimes I think I want something...for instance, it was Lays Classic Potato Chips a few weeks ago...I bought 6 1 oz. individual bags and after the fourth one in a two week period, I was done.

Like so many others, narrowing down to a single food is hard. I miss pizza, anything bread related (hard rolls, sweet rolls, etc) especially something hot from the oven with butter, pasta, mexican food and sweets. Post op. . I still love steak(and have no problems eating it),chicken, cottage cheese. .

My absolute favorite food pre op was pasta. I could boil some up, throw in some butter, parmesan, oregano and just go at it. So so good. My favorite foods now are refried beans and cottage cheese. They're just so darn versatile! And the reason they've changed is I try hard to avoid pasta, kinda like it's the plague, lol. Denise

Wow that is a tough question. Pre-op I was enjoying all kinds of food (fast food mainly) McDonalds was part of my morning ritual usually with a Bacon, Egg & Cheese Bagel and a hashbrown and a Large coffee. But I absolutely LOVED going to our favorite Mexican Restauarant and having a basket of chips and salsa, then having chicken fajitas with extra beans. I would load them up with pico de gallo, sour cream and pile it up on the tortilla and eat them. They were the best. Post op, I am having a love affair with seafood (something I never really ate much of before surgery) My favorite is Parmesan Encrusted Tilapia, I also enjoy the oven crunchy popcorn shrimp, and even Marinated Salmon. I also enjoy Morningstar Veggie Burgers. (also something I never would have even tried before surgery). I seem to have a totally different attitude toward food now. It's not my main focus. My only thoughts about food are when I'm thinking about how much protein I've had for the day, I do check fat grams, calories and grams of sugar on everything I buy. I just really want to do all this right and really change my lifestyle, not just while I"m trying to lose the weight, but for life! I know there will be times I will maybe get off track and not do the right thing 100% of the time but I really am trying to re-train my mind and body on how to eat so I don't fall back into old habits. I think the best way to break old habits is to replace them with new good habits!

My favorite thing to eat or drink before sugery was Dr. Pepper, and well, that was the ONE thing that I have vowed to give up. I have not had one since 4/28/2007. I really missed them at first, but now even the smell of them make me quinch. I think it is the sugary smell that turns me off. My kids still drink them but I am not even tempted with them around. It is awsome, it reminds me that I can do this!

Like others, this is very tough, anything that is horribly bad was one of my favs, lol! I'll have to go with "Macaroni and Cheese" though, yummers! I had this recipe for Mac & Cheese that contained 12, yes, 12 cheeses! It was heaven! Haven't made it once since WLS, whew. I can't seem to have just a little bit of that stuff. I don't think much about what my fav is now, I mean, food used to be my life, but now, it's really just to live, I so love that and wished I had been that way beforehand, then I wouldn't of gotten so obese to begin with. Amazing how having WLS can change so many things, not just physically, but mentally!
