Right now, I am happy that I do not crave sweets. I used to want them all day long before surgery. I am only 3 1/2 months out, so maybe things will change. But, I am happy to stay away from the sweet stuff. I do miss ice cream ANy ideas about ice cream???

Confidence! I'm more willing to try new things...I've started on my doctorate and have become much more comfortable socializing with our friends and neighbors. I enjoy my life to the fullest! I thank God everyday for this gift of WLS! Christy 235/158/166/145 Highest/Lowest/Current/Goal

I have to completely agree w/ the posts so far! I'm turning 58 in a couple days (had wls when I was 54), so I suffered DECADES of the physical and emotional indignities that come w/ being MO. If I had to put it into one sentence: The best thing has been feeling "normal"! No longer do I "stand out" in any way! I never have to give a thought to what chair to sit in, if I can participate in some outdoor activity, if there will be any stores with my sizes when friends go shopping. I cross my legs automatically, I can towel off after a shower without getting sweaty again, I can play around w/ my little grandsons on the floor, I love wearing nylons & a skirt, and just dozens of other little normal things that people take for granted! I feel so much younger! My dh is so proud of me, and at last, I feel like he's gotten back the "girl" he married 36 yrs. ago! My whole attitude is more confident. I feel like I've lost most of that old defensiveness I carried around for years. The health issues and just plain physical discomfort--gone! I give God the glory for all! Jo

Confidence! I feel like I can do anything now. Physically, I can do so much more. I'm not hungry all the time (but I still fight head hunger). My only regret is that I waited so long before deciding to have the surgery. Jules

I have my life back. All of it. Whatever I want to do, if I can afford it, I can do it. Nothing holding me back. This is with all aspects of my life. I wish I had done it sooner.

ok...the BEST thing is I'm off my BP meds and my sugar #'s are now normal on the vain side...I'm wearing my skinny pants today and I've had people telling me all day...You need new pants! I can't believe my skinny clothes are getting too big. Oh no, I guess I'll have to go shopping!

The best thing is how I look at food so much differently now. When I think about planning a meal for me, it's about what tastes good of course, but the first consideration is how I will fuel my body. Protein first, always. Then veggies. Then other things.

One of the best things about WLS is not having the pain in my knees and not feeling tired all the time. I'm also happy that I am no longer diabetic and having to worry about the affects of that disease. Another best thing is that I can fit into a size 6 jeans...that has never happened before even when I was a child I was always in husky sizes. Michelle
