One of the nicest coments that I have received so far was this weekend. A paramedic came into the emergency room where I worked and yelled out "hey beautiful!" He came over and after talking to me said you know what I love about you? You have lost all this weight but you are the SAME sweet person that you were before! I love that!!!
It made me realize that people appreciated who I was before surgery and it helped me see that I am staying true to the real me.
My boss had to leave for a few months because her husband was having a procedure done to treat cancer. When she returned, she hardly recognized me and said I looked great, slender, happy, etc. That was probably the best I felt because she is such a busy woman with SO many distractions and I was surprised she had the time to actually notice the changes.
I guess the most wow moment for me came from a family friend who I had not seen in about 5 years. She told me how good I looked, but later went on to tell my mom that I looked so much like I did when I was in high school (30 years ago). Believe me I have a long ways to go before I look like that again.........lol but I thought the compliment was very nice.
I must admit one of the things I do enjoy people asking me is if I have become healthier since I lost weight. For me that is really the bottom line. Getting thin is a bonus, but getting healthy and off the meds, that is the what really matters. I love to tell them how I am off my diabetic medication and how I can take a walk or work out and not get winded.
