Daily Post--1/20/08
I do feel like people treat me differently and men notice me more. I think it is because the world finds our appearance more acceptable now, but I also think it has to do with our attitudes too. I know I hold my head higher and don't avoid people now. I feel "normal" now, like I fit in with the world, instead of being "looked at and talked about". It is a great feeling to feel like you belong instead of acting like you don't exist at all!!! big hugs, Becky
Not really a question for recent post-ops, but here's my 2 cents anyway:
While sometimes it may be that people really are treating you differently, I believe that in a lot of cases, it is just a skewed perception that some WLSers have. The other thing that some WLSers fail to realize is that they are being treated differently, not because of their weight loss, but because their attitude is different.
Even at my age....56....I find that men treat me differently! I can't say it is flirting but they are definitely more friendly and talkative. Yes, maybe it is my attitude....more confident. But I also think men find me more acceptable. As far as women go, they don't say much at all. But every once in awhile, a woman will say I look great. Those are the women that feel good about themselves and aren't threatened by me, I feel.
