Okay, getting away from food for today! We hear a lot about people treating you differently after you lose the weight. So, do you think you are/were flirted with more now that you've lost the weight OR when you were heavier. And, do you think it is because of something different in you or simply because people find your appearance more acceptable now?

Tha's a real good question. I think men flirt with me more now then before, but I also think it's because of my atititude as much as my apperance. I feel more condident about who I am today day and want to be noticed instead of hide myself from them. But even women treat me different now then they did.
I do get flirted with a LOT more now.. but. I hang out with completely different people than I did pre op because my best friend pre op had supported me right up until surgery, and then decided that she didnt agree with the method that I chose to lose weight. So her and I are still not friends, and now she's mad at me because I only wear one pants size bigger than she does. So that whole friend circle was lost. The catch is... My husband has been gone over seas pretty much since January of LAST year and much of my new friends circle... has not met him... so the guys are just like "whatever, who cares about your husband, he's overseas" which to them is no big deal, but to me, he's my world and I wouldn't do that.

I believe it's a combination of both.
I am very self aware that as the pounds drop, I become more outgoing and confident. I have noticed I am more assertive in both personal and professional settings. I was asked just Friday if I would consider taking a substantial promotion in a very high profile position with my company. I honestly do not think that I would have been approached had I not had WLS.
I can't really say for sure. I still have almost a hundred pounds to lose before I reach my goal weight. I am down over a hundred, so it's a big difference, but I'm still a 'big girl'. More people are talking to me now, and I'm not getting those looks like before. I'm curious to see what everyone else has to say on the topic!

I'm still pretty new on this journy (11/5/07), but I know I feel different...so I expect people will react to me differently. I feel lighter, both on the inside and the outside...so my mood is better and I'm quicker to approach people and to smile. I know pre-surgery I did NOT leave myself open to be approached. It will be interesting to see how this changes in the coming months.
Lea, how's your daughter?
Mandy is still in a fair amount of pain and her mouth is swollen, but the pain pills help. She slept most of yesterday and has slept a good bit of today as well. They have no school tomorrow though, so she still has till Tuesday to heal and should be fine for going back to school then. The only thing is that she won't be able to take the Lortab to school for pain! She may be a bit of a bear by the time she gets off the bus on Tuesday!
Thanks for asking!!
