Well, I've recently been checking into hiking clubs and cycling clubs locally...
they list length, distance, speed and at what level of fitness (low-med-high).
They also show trails or bike loops on maps with elevation graphs etc.
Very helpful!!!
Also, been checking out 'Hike for Hope' as well as 'Tour de Palm Springs'
both coming up shortly... I've signed up for both charity events!!!
Not if this all qualifies for what you asked... I get most if not ALL of my info. via web...

http://www.collagevideo.com/ is a great place to go and watch short clips of exercise videos before purchasing them. I also like http://www.bodyforlife.com/exercise/animations.asp because they show what muscles are being targeted with various exercises. Shape magazine also has a website http://www.shape.com/workouts/ that allows you to search various workouts and routines.
