I seem to have a hard time getting my fluids in. I only drink water and I add sugar free flavors to it. Of course there are days when I don't get that 64 oz in. If anyone else has some tricks I would love to hear them.

I highly doubt that I actually get in the full 64 oz of fluids.. ugh! I drink a lot of tea and Cherry Coke Zero It's not hard for me to trick myself into drinking something.. I'm used to always having something in front of me. Cheers!

I don't always get in my full amount of water. But on the days that I do, I drink 1 16oz bottle by break time at work, half by lunch, half by next break, 1 before I go home and at least 1 at home.

I am very very bad at this. I get about 44 0z no problem. But the last few I need to just chug it. I have to stand at the sink and drink 8oz at a time. Some water ideas Wash and slice 1/2 a cucumber and wash and slice a lime lemon or 1/2 orange in to coin shaped slices, (discard the end pieces) any of the citrus works great. Put cucumber and citrus slices in a gallon of water and chill for about 2 hours. This is incredible tasting water, it takes some time to make it but if your going to a party it usually gets requests for the recipe. You need to keep it in the fridge or iced so it stays fre**** wont taste good warm. I love the new special K protein water, 30 cal, 5g fiber 5g protein... that is a hit combination for me. I can use the fiber and protein every day! I am a coffee-aholic, according to my surgeon the studies have shown that only in the immediate 2 hours after consumption does caffiene cause more urination, so if your drinking your other fluid in the day and limit coffee consmption it should not be a problem. I drink about 3 cups of coffee a day, I stir in protein if its a low protein day or if Im running errands but mostly just sugar free coffee syurp and ff milk. I have at the moment 3 special K protein to go water flavors, 2 vita splash mulitvitimin and fiber water flavors, three sugar free coolaid to go flavors and 1 crystal light to go packets in my cupboard where I keep my drinking glasses. Having variety is the key so I do not get tired of a flavor. My favorite right now is special k pink lemonaid, its better than full sugar country time lemonaid in my opinion. I am drinking my last 16oz of water as I finish this. Whooo im full of somthing! lol

Ive given up coffee and its the first thing I drink in the a.m.. I have some for the drive into work, I then have Breakfast, then protein drink then sip until 15 min before lunch. Will drink more after 1 hour after lunch, then usually a protein drink or snack in the afternoon. I drink it while Im cooking and sometimes I use it to ward off night time boardom munchies.... I have had a hard time with plain water lately, so I have a gazillion (Im really not kidding) flavors of Crystal Light to go flavors around the house thanks to me and my mom's pre-op care package. I also have been turned onto VitaSplash water add in's they have vitamins like Calcium and I think B12 ... Black Cherry is my favorite right now.

I honestly don't get in enough water unless I"m on a road trip. Then I can drink 2 liters in 2 hours. We know because we had to stop every 2 hours to buy more water and take potty breaks, lol. On most days off, I can get enough in. The only trick I have then is to keep a bottle in my hands at all times. denise

Hi everyone, Other than very early post-op, I haven't had a problem getting in enough liquids. Until about a yr. ago, I drank about 90% Crystal Light & 10% water. (I don't like either tea or coffee--wish I did!) I was lucky to have a job (I'm retired now) that made it easy to drink all day--h.s. guidance counselor w/ my own office. So far, so good. I still don't have any problems getting enough liquids. HOWEVER, over the past yr. or so, I have fallen back into the Diet Coke habit, and now I drink DC more than I do the Crystal Light and water (although I still drink them too). I know this is stupid; I know it has absolutely no positive value in our post-wls life. (However, I absolutely do NOT believe it stretches the pouch, as some believe.) So all you newbies, semi-newbies, and intermediates out there--take heed! Don't mess w/ the diet soda! I didn't touch it for about 2 yrs. and was getting along perfectly fine, so I thought I'd probably just stay away from it totally. I don't even remember exactly why/when I started having one once in awile, and for a long time, it was pretty minimal, but like all bad habits, it just got more & more frequent. Great question! Jo

I do better with hot liquids so s/f hot ****o works for me year around so I drink more that way. Discovered S/F Steamers today- thank goodness the cost $3 because I could be addicted..... If it isn't hot is has to be ice cold so I freeze a lot of half bottles of water and just fill when I need them. My freezer at work has little slots wore in it from me. But it works so..... I don't think I get 64+ every day but I sure try and each day is a new day to try again....
