ROLL CALL!! Sept 17th, 2007
I waited until my six month check up today and I have lost 78lbs!! Or at least according to the doctor's scale I have. His scale is 4 lbs lighter than mine so I don't know what to think. Should I just subtract 4 lbs everytime I weigh or just follow my scale? I don't know why but I thought my starting weight had been 263 and I looked on his chart and it was 266 so I have been cheating myself extra excitement all this time. My son, Nathan, has lost 40 lbs! Woo-Hoo for him! He wasn't overweight by any means just alot of baby fat and with me not buying all the extra junk, and him going to the gym with his dad every morning at 4:30, he is now as he would put it" a chick magnet!" He is 5'11" so at 190, he looks pretty good.
My goal for Halloween was 185 but if I go by doc's scale, I only have three pounds to go. I would love some feedback as to which scale you would go by.
For me, I normally go with whatever my home scale says. Yesterday, when I used my surgeon's reading, it was only one pound off of what I had at home. SO, not a big discrepancy there. If it were me, I guess I'd normally go with what I have readily available and that means my home scale. BUT, it isn't me! It is you and you have to decide! Sorry... LOL

Hi Lea,
I'll start out with my weight information:
Current Weight: 189
Start Weight: 275
Mini Challenge: 175
Goal Weight: 115
Funny thing, but neither of my parents were ever overweight, nor are my children. I have a younger sister who is obese, we are very genetically alike. I gained my weight in menopause, my sister always struggled with her weight. I have 4 other sisters who struggle with their weight, but are not obese.

Sadly to say no weightloss this week, still 235. I have a 9 yr old son who is overweight and I blame myself for that. He constantly wants to eat pasta he is a very picky eater and won't eat vegestables. We have gave in and gave him what he wanted for so long that it has been a real challenge to get him to change his eating habits. I worry too cause he had heart surgery when he was born, and I know from my experience that the extra weight puts a strain on your heart and I don't want him to have the problems that I had. I have been able to get him up and go walking with me and do some of my workouts with me. So keeping fingers crossed that me and him both keep up our routine. In the past 3 weeks he has lost 8 lbs and he has been very happy with that. He is my motivation to get up and keep moving.
I'm late posting this week. Maybe its the discouragement of still being 175.
Sigh....
Anyway, I don't consider WLS the easy way out. My daughter saw me struggle with trying to lose weight for years (I have PCOS) and knows what it was like for me. She also saw me in recovery at the hospital crying because it hurt to get out of bed. She had to give me heparin shots when I came home, watch me throw up, not be able to eat, etc. She has also experienced 1st hand me knowing that even with this tool, I can eat wrong and not lose weight. I finally broke down last week and started tracking my food intake again. What a shock it was! I'm getting back on the program so hopefully it will bump my weight loss.
