ROLL CALL!! Sept 17th, 2007
This was not a good week for me--PMS with all its bloating and cravings. But I am back on track today. I did improve my exercise but didn't make my goal. I don't know why it is so hard for me to get up and get moving now. It wasn't a problem in the past.
I don't have children--just a dog and cat. And the dog has put on weight since my wls as I'm giving him too many leftovers! Now we both have to diet.
As someone who was a fat child, it is so tough and so complex. I don't know what the answer is, so those of you with overweight children, I wish you the best.
Sally
goal for Halloween 157
current 165
well, only 1/2# loss..I'm at 191.5 .but better than a gain...getting close to my goal so the weight is bound to slow down....
I have 4 kids..2 are skinny...the other 2 are overweight...I'm hoping I'm teaching them how to eat better..and that they need to exercise...they've only lost a couple pounds each...but again..better than gaining...I wish I had some other ideas on how to get them more interested in better nutrition..if anyone has any ideas...I'm game...these are 2 teenage boys...
Hey Lea, My weight this week is 220, also PMSing big time. I have a daughter, and I do worry about her weight. She is 9 years old, and weighs, 80 pounds, I don't know if that is normal or not. But I know the HELL I went through has a kid, and it would break my heart to see her go through the same thing. Have a great week!
Hugs,
Alicia
Hi Lea and All,
I am 157 again this week. Scales stuck. LOL
I have 3 daughters. The older 2 have weight issues like me. The youngest does not have the same body style, thankfully she is more like her dad. My older daughters love that I had the surgery and seeing my success. I am trying to influence them to change their lifestyle and that of their children. They are a little overweight but not like I was. I would love to see them avoid my mistakes and learn to eat healthier now and to exercise. We talk about it just about every day. And I remind them that it is an every day decision. They are trying. Seeing my success has motivated them somewhat.
2 of my nieces are very overweight and now want to have the surgery. They want the success I have had for themselves. I want them to have the success. We talk about their options.
Have a great week everyone!!
Hello,
My weight this week is 184...I think that is the same as last week.
I have one son that is almost 15. If you ask him he would say that when he was younger he was fat but over the last 4-5 years he has really become in good shape. He is 5'8" and weighs 170 pounds but he is very athletic (he plays football, wrestling, and track) and has muscles that you wouldn't believe. He has so many muscles that kids at school have given him a hard time over the last couple of years by saying he is on steroids...kids can be so cruel and just ignorant. When he had his school physical he was catagorized with a BMI of around 25 which he was considered as overweight. I told him this is stupid because you can look at him and you can see he doesn't have any fat on the body to lose. He now wants to lose 10 pounds for wrestling season and I took him to the doctor to see how he could do it right without affecting his health and without starving himself like a lot of the wrestler kids do. So now he is trying to eat more protein and cut back the carbs and I am trying to help him understand about how to calculate the grams he is eating like what I do each day. I do tell him he really has to know what he is eating because his metabolism will not always be as high as it is now. I also tell him tht he has two parents that are overweight and if he doesn't set his good habits now then when the metabolism does slow down he has a very high chance of truley becoming overweight. Him and I think that if we both are eating healthier then it will force my husband to have to eat healthier cause we will only be making one meal for dinner not two.
I have 2 boys 12 & 9 yrs old. Both of my boys (and my husband) are a healthy weight. My youngest is very active, like his dad, but my oldest is more of a couch potato and I have to make him get out and play. I think that my boys have learned a hard life lesson by watching me go through the trials and tribulations of being obese and then having WLS. They know that it is not a cure all fix for my weight problems. They are my food police and they encourage me to work out. I think that it has helped them see how hard it is to loose weight. They are so proud of me and because of that I can not let them down. If they see me gain the weight back after all of this struggle to get it off, what kind of message will I be sending my kids? I have to succeed ...I dont have a choice.
