ROLL CALL!! Sept 17th, 2007
Happy Monday Everyone,
Last Week 158
This week 156.5
Goal 145
Very happy with my loss this week.
My husband has 3 granddaughter's who are very active and fit. I actually have been able to learn from them. Two are teenager's and have been so supportive of me the past year. Even the youngest who is 9 has made some comments that if I was still heavy would sadden me but she is just complimenting me in a way she understands.
Have a great week.
Current weight 184
last week 183
I gained a pound for the 1st time during this process. I have been taking vacation time this week painting/cleaning my house. I have been exhausted at night & havn't been doing my workouts. Also-I have been eating the wrong kinds of foods. However, I am thankful because 1: I've only gained 1 lb. 2: I have not been paying attention to my program but still have been only eating 3 meals & one snack. I have not been mindlessly eating/snacking 3: I'll do better this week with my "wake up call"
I have 3 sons. They are all very athletic. Two are of normal weight and one struggles tremendously. He is 6'1" and 260. He has done a lot better since my surgery. I'm cooking lower fat/lower carb dinners & we have been walking in the evenings. He has taken off 30 lbs in 6 months. His situation has convinced me that there is a big genetic factor in obesity. I have raised all three kids in the same home eating the same foods. Their activity level is similar but only one is obese.
Well I forgot to get on the scale before I ate ugh! I was ready for the worst. but, I actually am 289.4 YEAH! 2.8 pounds down woo woo woo..
I have a nephew who I raised pretty much off an on for last 11 years. He has been much heavier but has stretched out and we keep him eating healthy. I was point blank with him and said you DO NOT want to be fat you do not want to live like us. Many in my family are overweight. He has seen our struggles. He tells me how proud he is of me now. He is such a good boy. Yesterday we went out to dinner and he on his own ordered shrimp and veggies instead of fries.
My stepson is thin and is sooooooooooo picky. His Mother only fed him limited foods all fried or prepacked frozen food, no veggies, no meat, just not healthy. He was used to lots of soda and chicken nuggets fries and taquitos. thats it! Well he now eats veggies, no soda, baked chicken, quesadillas, beans, salad, and fruit. He is very thin. One good thing he eats very very slow. lol we make a good team.
Don't know if I've influenced any kids or not, but I've got one friend considering WLS and another has lost 30 pounds on a medically-supervised liquid diet.
Pre-op: 240
DOS: 232
Current: 160 (first goal achieved)
Goal: to weigh whatever is necessary to get off blood pressure meds
I think that's a 2 pound loss, or maybe 3, don't remember.

Can I join this challenge? If yes, here's my information.
High Weight - 287
Current Weight - 161
Goal Weight by Halloween - 150
I'd like to get down to 140 or 145 but not sure it's possible in that time frame. I had a hysterectomy last October and have gained and lost the same 5 pounds for the past year. I am starting a new exercise program today and hoping between that and the motivation of a challenge I can jump start myself into losing some more weight.
As far as your question. I have two children but neither are overweight. I was actually much smarter with them than I was myself, but of course by the time I had them I was already morbidly obese, but knew where my food issues came from. I was very careful to avoiding doing to them what had been done to me as far as food is concerned. (Long story - LOL) Even though I have had surgery there is still some junk food in my house. But there's also a lot of healthy food as well. It's been that way since the kids were born. Sometimes they choose the junk food for snacks and sometimes they choose the healthy food. I'm ok with that as long as it's not always the junk. By teaching them to make the choices I'm hopefully setting them up to avoid the problems I had with food and emotions and issues and all that stuff that haunted me all my life.

Good day everyone,
Last week...229.5
This week...224.5
Halloween Goal...199
Yipppeeee...down 5 pounds, last week I was only down one half pound. I love these make-up weeks.
I am only one stinking half pound from losing 100 pounds. But I am one beautiful half pound less than my DH. First time ever that I weighed less than he did.
I love WLS. And hopefully tomorrow I will be joining the Century Club.
Having a great day, hope you all do too!!

Oops...I forgot to answer the question (I was so excited )
My children are 37 and 38. They are both 5'5" tall. One weighs 130-135 and the other 145-150. Miss 130-135 stays within that range. I am thrilled for her, she does a good job. Miss 145-150 struggles to keep that weight. She is soooo active...hiking, biking, swimming, working out, you name it she does it. So I know she has food issues. (And I know muscle weighs more but that is not it) I know I was never a good roll model for her and I can tell that she is inspired by me now. I don't think having or not having the surgery enters into the equasion, it's just me not eating like a super morbidly obese person. And that makes me happy.

Hi Lea and Gang...
Yes I have 2 children, a 7 year old boy who is stick thin, and a 4 year old girl who is tall and stocky, not overweight, but I took them for a physical and was told to watch my daughter because she can become overweight....so we are really watching what she eats and how much activity she has daily....as far as eating habits they no longer want McDonalds and junk food they ask for things that are healthy...So their habits have really improved with my surgery.
As far as weight goes I am down to 2 lbs good week finally the scale moved, leaving me at 235 for the week.
As I mentioned I did this 5 day thing where I cut out all carbs and got back to post-surgery eating and the results are great-
179lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually have a 1.5yo daughter that is UNDERWEIGHT and the Doctor told us at her last appt to let her eat whatever she wants and butter it if we can. She was also told to drop most juice or other drinks and replace all drinks with Whole milk.CRAZY
My 4yo is a normal weight - she gets a little chunky belly then just shoots up. We just had to get all new pants again.
She knows what exercise is now which she didn't before and asks to go running with me in the carriage. None of my friends or their kids understand that.
