We started on May 1st. We started with about 65 , but there were 98 of us as we closed out the challenge. We had folks who were 3 or 4 years out. We had folks who were in their first year as post ops. We had some brand new postops. And, we even had a few preops. The whole challenge idea is about supporting each other as we work towards the common goal of losing weight. This group did a wonderful job of just that! And, here's the outcome! Our TOTAL loss for the whole group was 1240 pounds, or an average of 12.7 pounds per person. 15 to 20 people met or exceeded their July 4th goal weight. Several more came within 5 pounds of doing so. And, as this was the first time we'd done this as a group, there were some who set pretty lofty goals and still came close to meeting them! At my surgeon's support group meetings, everyone writes down how much they've lost on the signin sheet and someone tallies it up during the evening and the total is announced. Well, this challenge group IS a support group, and we'll do the same thing now! As a group, these 98 people have now lost a grand total of 9016 pounds since their surgery (high weights for everyone minus current weights for everyone). How's that for grand??? We are now starting the Labor Day round of the mini-challenge and have an even larger group this time... Anyone interested is welcome to join us. As I said, it is all about support. We'd love to have you! Here's to hoping we all do great in this newest round! Hugs, Lea

Lea, What gets me the most excited is to know that 108 of the total pounds lost were mine. There is alot more life that can now be lived represented in the 9016 total pounds lost. I like to think about how much more each of us are now able to give our family, ourselves, and our communities as a result of this major change in our lives. Not to mention the people around us who we now have a unique ability to inspire to a healthier lifestyle. --Dave 350/242/205 (minichallenge goal 225)

I love what you said! "There is a lot more life that can now be lived represented in the 9016 total pounds lost." That is SO true! Just think of all that we are now out there doing and enjoying! Lea

Thank you for taking the time to tally up everyone from the challenge. I think many times it is too easy for folks to feel like they are alone in their weight loss journey. In actuallity, we are not alone, and have the unique ability to inspire each other to further greatness. --Dave
