Anyone around??
Hi,
Just wondering how the Labor Day challenge works. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get back on track with the "right" things to eat? I haven't been to support groups. I had open RNY 3/10/03. I lost weight very fast and never gained anything until this last year. I have put on about 25lbs. since last summer! I am eating the same as I have always ate. I eat everything. I need help! What "should" I be eating?? I eat too much food and the wrong food. I know I still have the mechanism that works......I just need to jump start it and get back on track. All protein no carbs?????
Thanks!!
Hi Vicki!
Ive put your goal at 139. But, I bet you can beat that!
As for getting back on track, I hear a lot of folks comment about going back to basics just like after surgery. Some go all the way back to their liquid only phase to sort of clean their system out. Some just go back to those days of only being able to eat a couple of ounces of pure protein with very little carbs. But, please remember that you need a certain amount of good, healthy carbs in order to remain healthy! Your brain functions on carbs! Don't totally eliminate them or you'll be in such a fog you won't know what's what! But, I'd seriously consider keeping a journal of all that you eat and drink for a while. And, by all means go back to measuring your portions as we all know how distorted portion sizing can become in our eyeballing as opposed to actual measuring.... Can be a real eyeopener!
Welcome to the group!

Hi Lea,
I'm checking in! Btw what are good carbs? Any suggestions? I just started a new job and have training and testing with it and if I don't pass I lose the job! I don't wanna be foggy..even though it's been a very long time since I've had to study for tests. Any help would be wonderful!!!!
Starting weight was 326 lbs.
Current weight is 251 lbs.
Goal by Labor Day is 240 lbs. I would say more but I'm really stressed with the new job and all the family stuff to deal with also. It's been 5 yrs. since I've been in the workforce. Wish me luck!
Good carbs? Good carbs are carbs from fruit, veggies, whole grains, milk, nuts, etc. They are natural, not refined carbs such as white bread, pastas, crackers, chips, etc. Dame Tooter has a nice piece about which carbs are better on her site. The link to it is

Sorry to hear about the stress... Hubby is changing jobs for the THIRD time this year. Got laid off from one job. Didn't like the one he took after that, so changed again. Now, the company he's working for has a dispatcher (hubby is a trucker) who can't communicate effectively with the drivers and hubby is fed up with his crap, so off we go again! He is lucky. He has been driving over 20 years and has a pretty clean driving record, so he can get a job pretty easily as there are a lot of companies out there who need good drivers. BUT, it is still very stressful and hurts the wallet as he's been home a week and a half. He got hired by the new company last Monday, but their orientation doesn't start till this coming Monday.... I have to drive him to Louisville tomorrow evening to get him there too. They are covering the cost of the gas, but I still have to do the driving! LOL
