Hello Everyone I am new to this board. It's great to find others interested in Genealogy and family History! I am researching my biological family tree. I'm adopted and started to do this about 1 1/2 years ago. I'm stuck, but am hoping to go to North Carolina this fall and solve my mystery. If anyone has info. about the Jenkins of Swain County North Carolina I'd love to hear from you. Thanks to all for your interesting posts!!! Tami~

Tami: My roots aren't in NC, but being a genealogist for 25 years, I will give you some places to start: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncswain/ http://genforum.genealogy.com/nc/swain/ http://genforum.genealogy.com/jenkins/ This should help and the best of luck in tracing your family tree! Rhonda

Hi Tami! I do hope this forum will become more active! I love doing this research, and it has become a passion of mine. I have even found the proverbial skeletons in the closet by doing so... What surnames are you researching? I have been doing my own for 6 years now and genforum has been the best starting point and where I have found around 10 relatives I never knew I had, that were willing to share information with me. Best of luck, and if you need any help just post! Sandy

Hi Tami, What time frame are you talking about for your Jenkins in Swain County NC? I have 2 books on NC, but niether mention a Swain Co.. I checked and Swain became a county in 1871, and was originally Jackson Co., and part of Macon Co.. Both these counties were part of Burke and Rutherford Co.s. In the State census 1784-1787 I found a Cadar Jenkins,David Jenkins in the surrounding area. Good luck Carol
