Hello family I had Open RNY on 1-13 and I was wondering if its ok to have sexual relations now? (trying to make it sound nice) Should I wait longer? Please say NO! I dont want to break anything inside. My belly is still a little sore in some spots. I wanted so bad to ask my surgeon the other day but I couldn't. My gf suggested I ask yall so I took her advise. Thanks in advance Kay 450/388/353/175

I know Erin was told by her surgeon that she should wait for three weeks after surgery to resume sex, so I would think that by now it should be okay, but really you should ask your surgeon. Every surgeon seems to be different in their after care instructions. I am surprised that your aftercare paperwork does explicitly map out what kind of activity you can resume when. Check through any and all paperwork you've received from the hospital when you left. It might state in there when you can start having sex again. Rhonda

Hey Kay - I waited about 3 weeks until I was just feeling up to it. My doc never gave me any specifications so I just went with what felt right (and until I just couldn't wait any longer ) I'd advise to just listen to your body. Beth

Hi Kay, My surgeon told me no sex for four weeks. I do think, though, that you should check with yours. They all seem to have different opinions on that. Good luck, and have FUN!!! Rosa
