Hey ladies, I have a quick question. Have any of you thought about doing Curves?? I just signed up for it today and I am really excited about it. If you have done it or are thinking about it, let me know. Hope everyone is having a good day. Melissa

I hate to be a downer, but Curves gives a lot of money to anti-choice right-wing causes. That's the original franchiser (not the individuals who own the franchises) - and it's been millions of $$. It's awful that someone who makes so much money from women uses it against them. But - if it's the only place in town to exercise, that's important to do. Peace, Ruth

Hi Melissa! I just saw Ruth's reply and it makes me so mad/sad/frustrated!!! I mean, wtf already? how wrong is that...to put together a venue for women about women then use their dollars against them in the bigger arena of politics and free choice. WRONG! that aside, and it's a big one to put aside, I do have a really good friend who has dropped tons of weight and totally re-shaped her body using their program. she is naturally a little on the short & stocky side, but when i saw her recently she looked like she'd actually stretched! she had a long/lean dancer's look about her, I was amazed. she goes 4-5 days a week for 30 minutes, using their "proven" rotation technique. they are quite costly and the hours aren't the best if you can't make it there past corporate hours (at least the ones around me). if you are still seriously interested, why not call them up and ask for a free session to check it out? While you're there feel free to ask them what they sponser and how they use member's dollars aside from paying their own bills best of luck, Violet

Hey Melissa I have thought about joining curves. I just asked my surgeon about it today and he said a lot of his patients go. He thinks its a great idea. I cant join til my G tube is removed. I'll either join or buy some exercise equiptment. Good Luck Kay

I was a former member at Curves in two different cities. The centers are franchises, owned by local people. I was really happy with Curves in Grand Rapids, MI. I enjoyed going...even became addicted to working out, it was so great! I lost weight, felt good, and was really commited to going 4 times per week. Then I moved to Alpena, MI. The center was very small, (equipment barely fits) and smells really bad! Their hours are not convenient, unless you can go early in the mornings. So..it really depends on the location! After reading the other post, I am glad I quit going. I will not support any organization that is politically involved in any anti choice/ femmine cause.
