Today I found out that I will not have a job with the company that I have been employed for 10 years, I am in shock I am numb. I have never had this happen to me. I know that they treated me like crap when I was trying to get approved but, I just don't understand how they can be so cold hearted. I can' belive it I will not have a job after 3/18.

sherry, I am so sorry to hear about your job!! Did they give you a reason? All I can say is that I believe everything happens for a reason and that maybe it is time for you to move on to a new adventure and touch the lives of bigger and better people. Take care!

I sent you an email! Just remember, it's probably NOT you. It's company decision to downsize for whatever reason--usually financial and it doesn't reflect at all on your skills or value. Jen

Hi Sherry, I was so sad to read your post. You have had such a difficult time and now this. Do you think it has anything to do with the pending surgery? If so, you may want to check into the Americans With Disabilities Act and see if you have any other recourse. Will you be able to COBRA your insurance? Please try to hang in there. You have come so far, and by reading your profile page, I know you have an inner strength that will get you through, even if you don't see it right now. Please know that I will be praying for you and your family. I wish I could reach right out there into cyber space and give you a big hug. Thank God you have a loving partner and family with you during this very difficult time. Feel free to email me if you just want somebody to talk to, and keep us updated on whats going on. Take care, Rosa

Oh sweetheart, Wipe your tears and keep your chin up. Your life is taking many new directions right now, and this happens to be one of them. You have been put through a lot at that job, sometimes, we're dealt some cards that we have to really stop and look at, before we act. Yes, they will let you go March 18th, but trust me, the world will not end. You will find a new job. This is the time to look to what kind of work do you really want to be doing. You know when one door closes, another door opens. It really does. I certainly remember a few occasions in my life where I put my all into something, only to be told unequivically: no. So, I picked myself up, (after a day or two of crying and greiving---you need that to move forward) and I began searching for where I really needed to be. I had been planning a move to Nassau, Bahamas, and through a series of events that went on for the better part of a year, I was just about there---then BAM--that option was no longer mine. So, I cried for a few days. Went home and sat down with my best friend and said, "okay, now what?" Her wise advise to me, and I am so proud to offer the same advise to you is, "this is the opportunity you didn't know was coming. This is the time to revamp your life, and chose a job you can be challenged at, and that you will feel good about. There is a whole world out there waiting to be dance over by Jessica Turner." And she was right. The next month after I found out I couldn't move to Nassau, I had a moving truck, a job offer in Tampa, Florida, an apartment, and a new life ahead of me. None of the things that happened in the month after I found out Nassau wasn't an option for me, would have ever happened had that door not been closed. I came to Florida, opened my own business, bought my first house, and met my soul mate. It doesn't get any better than that, my friend. So take some time to greive. You need that, and deserve it. Then, stand up, stretch your neck side to side, and move forward. Don't look back. There is nothing back there but memories and frustrations. Invest your energy in creating the life you want for yourself. You can do this, Sherry. I believe in you. Many of us here do. And I'm sure your girlfriend is telling the very same thing. Let us know how you are in the coming days, and what you decide to do. Don't let that old job determine your life. You and only you have the option to do that. You're stronger than you know, honey. Thinking of you, with love, Jessica

Thank you all for your support, the reason that was given , is that we need a generator to work the certain project that we do, since we have had power outages and the client, is not happy with that. Our vice president said a generator cost 250,000 they can't afford that plus the cost of health insurance, they made that a really big issue. So they are letting go about 80 employees. I do know that everthing happen for a reason.

Hi Sherry, I understand your pain. After 25 years of working for BellSouth I was let go along with 2999 others. It was a massive force reduction. I was so scared and felt ashamed. Like i had done something to cause this. I was angry for letting this happen. That was back in Dec 2001. Now i have a new job in REal Estate and am making more money than i ever made at BellSouth. I love my job and I am my own boss. I will not lie to you because immediately after being "LET GO" i went into a depression. Ate like a pig and gained 40 or 50 lbs in a year. I got a job with the Federal Gov't (TSA ) Airport Security. I hated it! Every minute was hell! I just finally one day accepted my reality and got off my butt and did something about it. I quit my job with TSA , went to Real Estate School, Had WLS surgery and resumed my life. So hang in there and don't waste any time. STart looking for a job now! Don't just dabble at it, put 100% effort into it. Good Luck Ken
