A Place for Us
Hi everyone!
My name is Jo.
I just signed up on WLS after bringing up to my fiance' that I may be interested in having RNY surgery.
We were thrilled to see there is a place here for us and our gay sisters and brothers.
Kitty and I have been together 7 months, she had the surgery 3 years ago after thoroughly researching the pros and cons and finding herself a Doctor she felt she could trust to perform this life altering procedure.
Needless to say she doesn't regret taking this step, and is doing very well.
I work in Long Island NY,but presently spend most of time in Central Jersey with my sweetheart and her children. We will be moving to Long Island in a matter of months.
We would love to hear from others to share experiences and give support. We can be reached through my e-mail which I think is posted but in case it isn't ....... [email protected]
Wishing everyone the greatest success, love, joy and happiness....

Welcome Jo & Kitty -
My wife & I have been together for 19 years this October - She's a beautiful slim brown woman who is supporting my decision to have this done through all her fears & concerns (a new one popped up yesterday - but that's a story for another post). She's the bomb & I am so grateful to be so lucky - Sounds like Kitty will be great support to you as well.
Much luck - Pam
Oh - Just in case you were worried - That which I am hugging in my photo -is NOT my wife - It's my beautiful - loves everyone, loves the water rottweiler Maya Papaya - She has an inoperable brain tumor & will die soon - But for now - she's happy every day to be alive - I find her to be an inspiration actually!
Thank you so much for your support. First of all, I am so sorry to hear about Maya, she is adorable. Losing a pet is very tough, Kitty and I have both been through it ourselves. Im very glad that you have found someone that sounds as wonderful as my Kitty to support you through this. I wish you and your wife happiness. Keep us informed of your progress. Jo and Kitty
Hey Jo!
Congratulations on your wonderful 7 months with Kitty, and with moving forward with your plans to have WLS. My fiancee and I live in Orlando with my 16 year old daughter, and have been together a tremendous 6 whole months!!! When you know it's right, you just know...
We met here on this very site!! Her insurance was canceling coverage of the WLS altogether--so we'll end up going over the boarder (Mexico here we come!!) for her surgery. My insurance company wouldn't cover my surgery because the employer I worked for was too small for that to be a covered service. Phooey!!
Anyway, I just found a job with WLS covered as a benefit, and my new boss had the surgery in April, so she's wonderfully supportive(and FAMILY!). It doesn't get any better than that! The master plan is for me to have my surgery as soon as possible; then we'll start saving like fury to make our pilgramage to Mexico for her surgery... Wish us luck! I did a truck load of research on Mexico (I'm a nurse, and asking questions is my specialty!!) If all goes well, within the next year, we'll both be on our way to wellness---and the wedding day is February 4, 2006! It will be a Pagan/Semi-traditional wedding ceremony that will take quite a while to plan--but I can't wait to do it!!
Anyhoo...write me here, or by email ([email protected]).
Be well, and hugs to you and your honey.
