Kind of personal question...

I don't know who else to ask so I thought I'd ask you guys! This is my first question so why not make it a biggie?!! LOL I had surgery May 27, 2004 my sex drive was fine before the surgery and for the next 6 or so weeks. Well the last maybe 2-3 weeks my sex drive is very low and I cannot achieve ..lets just say..fulfillment either. Has anyone else experienced this? I have lost 56lbs so far. My partner is very supportive but confused. Thanks.

Hi Amy! I am pre-op (maybe no-op), so I can't give you any insight on this problem. From the research that I have done, most women experience an increased sex drive after significant weight-loss (due to hormone stores being released from fat cells). Are you by chance taking an anti-depressant? Some are known to cause this "problem". I am sorry that you are experiencing this---Hopefully this is a temporary condition. Cheryl

Thanks for your response, Cheryl. I did consider the fact that I take a low dose of anti-depressant but this is the same amount and type as before the surgery. I do plan on discussing on my next appointment though. Thanks again.

Hi Amy, I would also take into consideration that your body is still recovering from major surgery and is taking time and energy to adjust to all of the changes. Although they are good changes, they are still changes. Try sex earlier maybe? Don't eat (right) before? Good luck, and let us know what the doc says. I could use more drive in that area too. -Donna

Hey there ~ I'm 14 mos out and experienced this as well. For me it was anemia & tiredness. It's worth talking to your doc about. Make SURE you're taking your vit & min, getting a B-12 shot monthly, etc.
