Cleared by Pulminary Specialist
Today I went to Dallas and saw the pulminary specialist. He has cleared me for surgery!! That was my final hurdle. I have pretty bad asthma and this pollution just irritates it more.
I may get my date moved up but in a way I have worked with knowing surgery is on the 17 of August so to move it up may be a bit scary. We shall see.
So- does anyone live around the Joshua, Burleson, Crowley area? Or near? Just curious - not much chatting going on on this board - trying to get something going........
Everyone have a nice weekend?
Lisa
Hi Lisa - that's great news. I want to share this with you. I'm a little over 3 months post-op. I had very bad asthma going in to surgery. I was taking Singulair, Advair, nebulizers, albuterol, theophylline, etc. I had an asthma episode in the hospital immediately following surgery - got IV steroids, etc. Since my surgery, I only take Advair - I have not used my emergency inhaler once. I used to use it several times a day - and would usually wake up in the middle of the night, coughing and wheezing. If I was religious, I'd say it was a miracle. I haven't had an upper respiratory infection yet and that was a big trigger - but I don't even wheeze when I go to LA to see my surgeon and that's the most polluted city there is.
I hope that you have wonderful luck too. Let us know when your date is set.
Ruth
Hi Lisa!
Congratulations on having your pulmonary function test behind you---that can be a tough one for asthmatics...
There are several folks on the Texas Board who live near you, but I can't think of anyone from this board in that area.
As posted in response to your previous post, I live in the country just southeast of Dallas.
I also have large animals (cattle, goats, miniature donkeys) and would love to compare notes, advice, experiences.
Take care and best wishes to you!
