ok....get your minds out of the gutter! LOL...I havent posted in a bit, because everything has been such a whirlwind. I got my date for July 29th. I saw the surgeon on 5/4/-2004.....on Friday 5/7/2004 at 8:30 am The surgeons office called and asked me to prepare for surgery on the following Monday 5/10/04...WOW....talking about a shock! Its been 11 days since my surgery....Im 30 lbs lighter, no pain (what pain I had was VERY minimal) my only problem is finding a comfortable position to sleep. The first week I slept in a recliner. Last night, I slept the whole night in the bed, but not comfortably. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about sleeping positions? Is it ok to sleep on your side? How long before I can sleep laying on my stomach?? Any response would be appreciated.

I slept on my side right after surgery... Maybe a sling would help you?? and is the normal position on your stomach? Just kidding!!! I couldn't resist though! LOL Congrats on the 30# gone.

well....I asked Jay to borrow his sling....but he said that is HIS position and he wouldnt let me have it!! LOL In all actuality, I sleep on my left side, but it is VERY uncomfortable...just guess it will take time.

I think it just depends on you. Theres no exact timing, so try a little each night. It took a few weeks for me, but I had open rny. You also might try a body pillow to curl around. Glad you're home and doing so well! -Donna

Yes, after my open RNY, I got a body pillow and used it to help hold everything up, I was able to sleep a lot better after that.

Hi Kenny - I had open RNY and was able to sleep on my stomach the last night in the hospital and immediately at home. That's my normal position. It's all individual. I didn't have much pain when I got home. Experiment with different positions. Try some Kid's Tylenol before bed-time and that might make you comfortable. Extra pillows may help. This will pass quickly. Ruth
