Topic #3
Ok, so I don't want to seem like Im taking over the board here. If anyone has other topics, please feel free to throw them out here! So here's my latest one for us to ponder.....
In your experience, do you think that the gay community has more or less of a prejudice against fat people? Why do you think that is? Is it different for men-vs-women?
And digging a little deeper... have you ever found yourself being prejudiced or thinking poorly of other fat people in the community, even though you are/were fat too? If so, how did that make you feel?

I think just from my own personal experience, I find more prejudice. There's so much pressure about having the perfect body and going to the perfect gym, etc. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it just seems that's the way it is. I wonder if it's true around the country and not just here in Cali. I am not sure about the difference of men versus women though.
I don't find myself prejudiced or thinking poorly of anyone. I certainly wouldn't judge them for being fat either. Maybe it's because I am still fat even though I have lost a lot of weight recently. I am not physically attracted to very fat or very thin men for that matter. I think though it works in both directions.
It has always seemed to me that being fat is much more acceptable in the lesbian community than with gay men. It's just never been an issue for me. Some of my gay male friends say if you're not buff, you don't exist. There is probably a difference in the Bear community. I think for women, it's much more about empowerment, eroticism and that spiritual connection. I tend to see larger women not as fat, but as voluptuous and an embodiment of the Goddess.
