Same Sex Marriage Licenses issued in Portland, Oregon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check it out everybody!! In my little 'ol town! Starting tomorrow! My partner and I are going to pick up the application tomorrow and go for it!! We've been together 11 years and had a major "ceremony" in 1996. Now we'll have to celebrate the anniversaries of the day we met, the day we had our ceremony, and the day we got married!!!! how cool is this? By the way, you DON'T have to be a resident of the county to apply for a marriage license...HINT, HINT. COME ON OUT!!!!!

Hi Kimberly!
Yep! We did it! It was a blast too. Never thought I'd say standing in line for three hours would be a blast, but it was. Everyone was so giddy and lots of people came down to support those of us in line with free flowers, and cakes, and disposable cameras so we could record history. It was very affirming. After we got the license we went outside the building and had one of the several ministers who had volunteered their time marry us. We're standing on the sidewalk in front of the building with lanes of traffic zooming by getting married! Many of the cars passing were honking their horns in support. There were a handful of people with their bibles open screaming scripture at us holding "God hates ****" signs but we didn't care. And aren't those signs just ridiculous??!!! Really!
I read your journal this morning. You've had a long journey. I'm so happy that you're doing really well now. I gathered from it that you have an MSW. Is that correct?? Me as well, although I left the field about five years ago due to a bit of burnout after so long.
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration your journal provided, and for the marriage congrats!
Take care and continued success.
