ROLL Call!
Ok, so I just found this board exsisted like 15 minutes ago by clicking on a link I didn't know would take me anywhere (this site is amazing with all its hidden grottos for chatting).
This is a ROLL CALL! If you are reading this, you must post a reply - if only just to say hi.
Let's feel the community love
I'll start:
Name: Lara
Location: Minneapoliis
Surgery type: RNY - not sure if open or Lap
Surgery Date: Some point in the distant future, ie, whenever the surgeon finally calls. (I have been approved since JULY!)
and the bonus question
Nicest thing I did for myself this week: The nicest thing I did for myself this week is clean my bedroom - it is SO nice not to have chaos to stare at when I am trying to relax and fall asleep.
Here I am...yep, it's me...Marica...overe here in the back of the class. I am new to all of this. I am still trying to figure my way around this damn site. I am computer challenged (typo queen). I guess we all need to be queen of something!!! OK, as for the stats...
Name: Marica
Location: Long Beach, CA
Surgery type: Lap RNY
Surgery date: Dec. 03rd, 2003 YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am starting to get scared! help!!!!! (send chocolate)
I'm here! I'm here! I live in Minneapolis too. I am six weeks post op. Open RNY. I have lost 50 pounds so far. I seem to be stuck on a little plateau already and it is driving me nuts. I think I would be better off if I would just throw the scales out! The only problem I have had is clogging a lot. I am trying to change my habits and see if that helps. Otherwise, I am seriously considering going back on a liquid diet for a little while. At least when I am working. I cant afford to be sick at work. I have nine clients on most days that depend on me. It doesn't matter though how many problems I have. I will always be thankful for this surgery. I have not had to take any insulin since my surgery. THAT IS A MIRACLe! The thing I am most thankful for in my life right now is the fact that I have a wonderul life partner that takes the BEST care of me! I didn't even need an angel for my surgery because I had Suzanne and my daughter with me. My daughter had the surgery last year and is down 195 pounds in 13 months. I am so proud ofher.
Hey! I just found y'all! I am so excited to finally find the gay people. I mean I just love this board, and have made some life-long friends, but there's nothing like finding "my people"!
I am Jessie S. and it seems the only one of us from the west. I am in Phoenix and am on my 7th week out from RNY. I've lost 45 lbs so far and am pretty happy about that. Had a pretty easy time of it so far if you don't count the incision pain/drainage thing. That was awful, but it is over now.
So, I'll go check up on everyone's profiles to catch myself up on the latest. Meanwhile, nice ta meetcha!
Jess
Whassup everyone?
I'm Kaye from Huntsville, AL. At this writing, I'm just getting started on this roller coaster ride. My consultation is day after tomorrow in Birmingham (an hour and a half away).
I've been praying on this for quite a while, researching it for several months but wanting it for the last 5 years. (Back then, when I had really good insurance, I had a doctor that didn't believe in gastric bypass, so she wouldn't recommend me for it......go figure.) Now, I'm on Medicaid and praying things go well.
My partner of 13 years is supporting me as much as she can. So are my teen daughter, my dad and brother, my extended family and my church family. Three of my church members have already had the surgery and at least 2 more (other than me) are planning to have it. (We enjoy good eating MCC Huntsville...LOL!)
I look forward to being able to walk down my neighborhood street again without pain. I'd like to walk from my car to my class at school without having to take 5 minutes to recover and catch my breath. After 3 years of training, I was recently ordained as a Deacon in my church. However, some of my duties, namely participating in communion, is next to impossible for me. I can't stand for long periods or my leg and back pain become overwhelming. I've reached the limit for what my body can take and I must do something about it.
I'm glad this message board exists and look forward to exchanging messages with all of you here. We need to be the uplift for each other. After all...we call it "family" for a reason, right?
Peace,
Kaye L-J
