Love that there is a forum for us on here!!
Hello everyone,
I am new to this site but I absolutely love it! I married my lovely wife in august of this year in Toronto, Canada. Here in Ohio it is not legal. This infuriates me! Anyways, we were not gonna let that stop us! I am an RN at a nationally known hospital which is where I am planning on having surgery. My wife and I are both going to have the procedure done. I am very lucky to have domestic partner benefits for my wife. So she will be covered under my insurance for her surgery. Right now we are waiting for them to notify us if we are candidates or not but we are for sure. I am super excited to get this done. I want to experience what life would be like without all this extra weight. I just wanted to introduce myself!
I think Texas will be the last state that makes it legal, we live in the bible belt.
We got "legally" married this year in NYC and it was such an amazing experience. They are so open and accepting, we had our ceremony in Central Park and we were prepared for the ugly looks and comments. We received the complete opposite! People were congratulating us as we walked through the park to the bridge and people actually stopped to watch with smiles on their face.. The memory still melts my heart, after almost 10 years together that piece of paper means more than I realized.
Now we are moving on to the next chapter of our lives of being healthy to do all the things we want to do. My wife has surgery on Monday and I am the one that is a nervous wreck. I start liquids on the 19th for surgery the week after..

Welcome!
My partner and I both had the band in 2005 and I had a revision to RNY last year. It's really helpful when both of you are on the journey.
We had a civil union in IL 1.5 years ago but we've been together almost 27 years.
Glad to welcome you to this board!
