How soon to date after surgery?
So glad to have found this site the GLBT Forum. It will be great to talk to others who know all of the struggles I am going through. I have the PCP appt for Oct 26 and will have all of my other Dr appts done by then so hopefully I might be having surgery before Xmas. I am out of a relationship and have moved to Fla to have a fresh start and help out with my ailing father. I am so excited about losing the weight so I can ride my bike more, but I am so afraid to start dating with my skin hanging. I am in my 40s so and will have A LOT of it. Did anyone in this group date after surgery? If so, how soon after and when did you mention the topic of WLS?
Glad you found this site. I don't know that there is a perfect answer to give you. I've lost 100 pounds and my skin is looser but not as bad as I thought. I'm 68. As I continue to lose weight the skin will get even more loose but I don't really care since I can move so much better. Someone you date will hopefully like who you are as a person more than focusing on your body. Women don't seem to have that same focus that men do about body types. You will know when it's right for you.

I won't be dating till after I lose enough weight to get my stomach plastic surgery. I just moved to Florida after my Girlfriend and I broke up. And since I'm not the bar type it is tough to meet people, especially since I have been told I look too straight. i.e. feminine. I am not really shy but I am not smooth at making a move on a woman lol.
It is hard to say about the skin, depends on lots of factors. As far as dating goes, you will hopefully know when you meet someone who you feel comfortable with. I just say be yourself and share when the time feels right. If some one just loves you for your looks, probably not the right person for you. Take care, just take it one day at a time and enjoy the sunshine and riding your bike!
