Dealing with frustration

Hi everyone!

I know that frustration is part of WLS. For some it's the wait, for others, the prep, or the plateaus or trying to find a protein drink that won't gag you. So I started thinking about what I do to deal with frustration. These work for me, Take what fits and leave the rest.

1. I remind myself that I'm not "regional director of the universe" and that I don't get whatever in my time frame. In fact, my time frame may not be the best one even if I think it is.

2. There is something to be learned in every situation if I am open to learning.

3. What I have today is sufficient for today.

4. "It's a mark of leadership to adjust". This was the motto at a camp I attended as a teen. I didn't like it then but now I realize how right it is.

5."No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" Eleanor Roosevelt. I love this statement and it applies to my weight, my appearance and my personality. It took me a long while to truly believe this but it is so important!

That's probably enough for today. At least it will give you thoughts to "chew on". Be nice to yourself!

Connie

Thanks so much for that quote!  I know that's something I really need to take to heart, especially since my stall started.  Just because I think something should happen doesn't mean it will!

This was just what i needed to see tonight.  Particularly the point about the timeframe.  i often find myself forgetting that my raw desire to get something done does not in and of itself make the rest of the powers that be cooperate.  I have to remind myself to do what I can to steer the ship while remembering that it takes the whole crew to make the journey.  Allow things time to work and don't waste energy on willing them to be done.

Good way to put it--it takes the whole crew!
