I am new to the site, pre op (pre seminar) and looking for friends :)
Little about me:
I am 32, have been with my wife for 11 years.  We were bestfriends for 4 years before getting together.  We hate dyke drama!  We have an 11 year old daughter that acts more like she is 16.  I am from the northwest and absolutely love all of Oregon.  I am out & proud and I don't care who has a problem with it.  Currently going to college for an associates in communications and will continue on to a bachelors in Public Relations & Marketing with a minor in Queer Studies.  When people ask me what I want to do with my degree I tell them that I want to change the world.  My ideal future will be working for a non-profit organization dealing with the glbt community.

So, tell me about you...

Welcome T!

I am not online here much anymore, over 4 years out from surgery now and LIFE...is sort of a focus. My weight has been way too low and is now okay, but I would prefer to lose about 5 more pounds. I could improve by eating more vegies and working out more, but still pretty active.

Live in Oregon. Best of luck with your surgery, schooling and life, this could be a big change in your life...change yourself ....and then change the world??

I am a techie approaching my 4th anniversary of my WLS. I stop in here now and then to see what's happening. My life changed a lot with surgery. I became very active and love being outdoors. My husband also had WLS 6 years ago. We are both doing well on maintenance. I am maintaining about the same weight for the past 3 years. I move up and down 3-5 pounds now and then.

I am 58 and starting to think about retirement. I know I want to be active. We are most likely going to move somewhere warmer (We are in Ohio now.) so that we can enjoy the outdoors all year long on our bikes and running. Although, we may end up building a home near my in-laws. They have a large farm and have given us a quite nice piece of property. It's country but close enough to city to make it livable. Right now I am just enjoying life as a post-op.

Hi There:

Welcome!

I don't Post much here, but I think that will change. I am a Lesbian, out and about. Ended a 5 year domestic partnership several months ago via mutual decision. I'm a passionate, energetic woman; I am a lawyer who transitioned My career into Non-Profit R.E. Development several years ago. Right now I am taking some time off to have hip surgery and rehab. I have lost over 120 lbs. over the last 2 years via diet and exercise (now thinking about plastics.) I LOVE Non-Profit work and when I go back I will open My options to work in the LGBT Community.

Post often!

Welcome Big_T !! I am just about 7 months post-op and doing very well i think. i could not have lost this much weight in the same time frame ever before and i think i am in the midst of a stall with my body catching up and says WHOA!!! whats going on here! hopefully it breaks soon as it is VERY frustrating. I have been w/ my partner for 3 yrs or so and we are planning our commitment / wedding for next June. AS you can probably see from previous posts - my rlx with my partner is going thru some trying times since this surgery but i am sure we will make it thru to the other side! Good luck to you!
Be well, and always - take care of you!

 Hi there!

I'm new to this section of the board, though I've been lurking in other areas.  I'm 36, very recently married (as in like 3 days ago) to a wonderful woman.  She has a 21 year old son from a previous marriage but we're hoping to have our own sometime before my biological clock gives up the ghost.  I work in a library and we are what happens when crazy cat ladies get together.  I believe the phrase "failed foster" was invented for us.

Freaking dyke drama.  I honestly don't know how people can live like that.  Don't they get tired?

My surgery is in a couple of days!  I keep flip flopping between scared sh*tless and happyexcited.

Hey springbound! First, congratulations on your marriage!! After looking at where you live I realized that you actually mean "marriage" instead of domestic partnership. That is amazing and it gives me the warm fuzzies. It's cute that you describe yourselves as cat ladies.
Congrats on your surgery. What kind of insurance do you have and what did you have to do/how long did you have to wait? I will be looking forward to pictures and updates of how you feel.
I am so glad you joined the post!

I am also new to the forum. I'm Kallie (Nickname), 27, Paralegal, from Louisiana. I am single and committed to getting my health back, so that I can be a better wife and mother some day. I am pre-op. My surgery date is August 6th, 2012 and I am very excited. I can not wait to be active again, and have a fun night dancing on the town. Nice to meet all of you!!
