ok, so i was just sitting here looking at a tat that i have on my upper thigh. it dawned on me that it looks bigger.... its not a terrible thing but realized that as my body changes all my ink ( quite a bit of it!) is going to take on different proportions and this is not an aspect i had thought of before. so i am figuring that as we get smaller, the ink gets bigger not smaller? i assumed that it would shrink as well but i am thinking that if its a 3in tat then 3in would take up a larger part of a smaller leg - oh hell i think i am confusing myself. i have a huge back piece that has been in progress and i just called my guy and told him we need to wait maybe 6 months (i am 5 months out now) to see where i end up as alterations may need to be made. is this a reasonable assessment? any experience out there? please share....
Be well, and always - take care of you!

All of my tats shrunk up with my body, but they still look good. I even have one that's pretty detailed and it survived!

Here's a pic:

I think it's a good idea to wait and do the back-piece as you'll have less space and don't want things to get too smushed!

Good Luck,

Hi there.  I too have a lot of ink.  Howevever, most of mine are on spots that weren't too fatty.  I do have ink on both of my thighs which were pretty big.  They do look a little different as I now have extra skin on the insides of my thighs.  I have a couple small ones on each shoulder blade, but they were small enough to not get distorted when I lost the 150 lbs.  I've got small ones on each of my bewbies.  These girls got "deflated" as my bestie calls it.  So the ink on the girls is now a bit longer than they used to be.  Throughout my weight loss, I decided to get a butterfly inked on for every 10 lbs I released.  I have 14 amazing butterflies flying up my leg from the top of my foot to the back of my calf and a caterpillar at the side of my foot representing the beginning of my Butterfly Journey.  No extra skin below the knee so that area was safe.

I've been SOOOOOO itching for more ink, but right now I'm 7 mos pregnant so I gotta wait.  The wifey and I will be getting special family pieces once our baby is born.

As far as your back piece goes, I agree... wait until you get to your goal weight to continue with that piece.  Maybe even a couple months after you stablize your weight.  The body continues to change a little after the lbs drop off.  Good luck to you on the rest of your weight loss.
