I'm doing my pre-op liquid diet and hankering for some real food, but determined to do this right every day until.... well, forever. well maybe not EVERY day, but I am trying to think of this as a life change. My relationship with food is over, we're breaking up and I'm not going back to that jerk!

I'm gonna follow my dr's instructions and do my best to move my ass. I have a long way to go (almost 160lbs), but I'm motivated to do it.

You have good reasons to be excited - stick to your preop-diet - at least this will hopefully be the last attempt to loose weight - and this time you do not have to fear that you will gain it all back - and more like in the past ...

I do have to tell you that your relationship with food is anything but over - even after the surgery - you will still have to make the right food choices - only YOU can do this. You may not be able to eat as much and you will probably feel full faster with the type of surgery you are having - that is the tool you will get.

Since you eat less - it will matter much more - WHAT - you choose to eat.

Hang in there during your pre-op diet - and educate yourself about good nutrition - and look forward to loosing weight and be able to move more, be healthier and able to eat good, healthy food  - that tastes good - just in smaller servings - it will be quality over quantity. I wish you all the best - you really have something to look forward to.

You can do it!  And I have to agree with the previous post.  Your relationship with food will never be over.  However, it will change drastically in order for you to drop those 160 lbs.  You'll get to a place where you see food as fuel and no longer as your best friend or however you saw it before.  Dealing with food addiction is literally the hardest substance addition to conquer.  A drug addict does not need drugs to survive.  An alcoholic does not need alcohol to survive.  A smoker does not need cigarettes to survive.  However, a food addict does need food to survive.  So not only do we need to deal with the addiction, but we also need to drastically change our relationship to that which had us for so long.

Now... some WLS patients say "I wasn't addicted to food."  To that I say "bull****!"  We all got to be super morbidly obese somehow!  I myself was 325 at my heaviest and I dropped 150 lbs.  And I'll be the first to admit that I am a food addict... I was for a very long time and I honestly still am.  it's a daily choice to eat healthy options.

OK... off my soap box now and good luck to you!
