Yummy Protein Shake Recipies
Hey All!
I wanted to share some ways that I doctor up my protein shakes. I finally found a brand that I really like plain but, there are still days when I get a craving for something "different". Here are some things I do to mix it up a little.
Fat Free Coffee Creamers: These are awesome! They add a nice creaminess to the protein shake and very little additional calories. Be sure to meausure and follow the serving suggestions on the side. I've found low fat, sugar free or low fat varieties that are amazing. Everything from Almond Joy to Creme Brulee.
Frozen Fruit: I think we all do this but YUMMY - my favorite, especially in the summer time. I'll use fresh fruit like bananas sometimes too.
Low Sugar or Sugar Free Applesauce: Once again, just follow the serving size. For this, I usually just do a few tablespoons. Add applesauce, some cinnamon and a bit of run extract to a vanilla protein shake and you have a good time!
Food Extracts: There are some many flavoris available in the baking isle. Rum, Cherry, Lemon, Coconut, etc. A great way to mix up flavors for no calories.
Greek Yogurt or Low-Fat Yogurt: There are some great varieties of low fat yougurt out there. If you add any of these to your protein shake it adds flavor, additional protein, creaminess and yes.... a few more calories. Dump the whole container in wih your protein shake mix and water. Delish!
PB2 or Better N' Peanut Butter: Yes, you are reading this correctly, this is one of my favorite products called Better N' Peanut Butter and PB2. Better N' Peanute Butter is made with Soy and Peanuts so it's got waaaay less fat, calories and carbs in it than regular peanut butter. This one also has a ton of protein! I usually buy it at Trader Joes and/or Whole Foods. PB2 is a powdered peanut butter you mix with water - this stuff is the BOMB! You can find it online and it has even MORE fiber, protein, lower carbs and calories than Better N' Peanut Butter and they have a Hazelnut spread (hello Nutella fans) that is equally as delish. Mix either of these with a chocolate protein shake mix and you swear you are drinking a Reeses Peanut Butter cup. This PB2 spread is also great with celery for a snack!
Enjoy! I'd love to hear some of your ideas too!
