Two year lap band anniversary

I can't believe it's been 2 years since my lap band surgery at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.  I am down 77 lbs and am feeling great.  I haven't had any real complications with the band with the exception of food getting stuck a few times...  My lap band holds 14 cc's and I am at 7cc's filled.   I made a personal decision to not get my ban filled too tightly so I can still enjoy eating and practice self discipline. 

In the two years since surgery, I've been working out quite a bit and developing muscle.  I am happy to report that I don't have an abundance of excess hanging belly fat.  I am going to set my next 25lb weight loss goal to be completed by the end of spring.

Happy 2nd Bandiversary Mark!

I am 3 1/2 years out of Lapban d surgery and doing well also. My restriction is about the same as yours. I believe I am at 8cc in a 14cc band. I agree with your approach. I hear too many people who want the band to punish them for overeating by making it tight. This does nothing to help people learn to eat properly. I've had a too tight band and it is very unpleasant. As time goes on, I have found myself relying on myself rather than the band. I am glad it is there to give me that gentle reminder when I go too far.

Tom - I am glad to hear that my approach is working for you also.  I have a few friends who have their bands so tight they can't enjoy eating at all and food gets stuck all the time.  That feeling is horrible and I can't imagine wanting to tighten my band that much.  Keep up the good work.  My band is a gentle reminder for me also.  I am very glad I have it to keep me on track.
