New to the GLBT forum
Hello family. New to the glbt forum, but I have been here in the background for a few weeks. A little intro here. My name is Gary and I am in beautiful San Diego, CA. I had my RNY last Monday Oct. 10 at Alvarado Hospital by my fantastic surgeon Dr. Julie Ellner. Surgery went smooth as can be and I was discharged on last Wednesday. Starting weight in Aug was 327, surgery day weight was 293 and I am now at 278. All I can say is WOW! So cool to see his forum. There is a lot of love and support here, which we need as we do this journey together. I don't know about anyone else but I need all the support I can get. 57 years of old eating behaviors and battlling my head hunger is a tough nugget to change. As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures that are smaller than 20kb I will post some pictures. Anyway just wanted to intro myself to the forum and wish everybody a great weekend. Gary.

Gary, welcome to the group and congrats on your surgery. Sounds like you're right on track with the weight loss andd I think you'll be surprised how quickly it comes off.
I was 300 lbs on surgery date and I hit my goal weight within 6 months. The doctor's goal for me was 200 lbs but I wanted to get down to 190 lbs. My body had a different goal and I'm now stable at about 180 lbs. No complaints about that.
Just be sure you don't waste a lot of money on new clothes until you stabilize. I bought a a couple pair of new pants when I was 200 lbs and they're way to big now.
Very jealous of you living in San Diego. I love that place and used to live there in the 70's. I have so many great memories since that's where I lived when I came out of the closet.
Take care and keep us posted on your progress.

Gary, Welcome to the forum. I am 58 and was 55 at my WLS. Making change is most likely going to be the one of the most difficult parts of your weight loss journey. However, the benefits you reap are many. Successfully transforming yourself and living a new diet, exercise and health program pays off in a longer and happier life. Good luck on your journey. -- Tom
