Back again
I was on this board in 2007 after a lap band which turned out to be unsuccessful for me and now I'm going to have a revision to RNY on October 21st. I am both excited and nervous and so ready to get started tomorrow with the liquid pre-surgery plan.
As far as who I am--I live in IL and am a mostly retired psychotherapist. My partner and I have been together 25 years and finally had a civil union in July since IL changed its laws. When I saw the pictures of the civil union I decided I had to do a revision. I am looking forward to getting to know those of you who are currently on this board.

Good luck on your upcoming revision, I have seen quite a few revision folks have great success and I wish that for you too!

Thanks for the support. I remember you from before. It looks like you have done well. The band worked well for my partner and not so well for me, although I have to take at least half of the responsibility. I never got to a point where I could tell a "full" signal and I could always eat bread. Both of those things became a great struggle no matter how full the band was. Today is my first day of liquid getting ready for the surgery and its' going OK.

For me, the RNY post-op diet has been a real life saver. I didn't do coffee, soda, potatoes, rice, pasta, breads, etc. for almost a year. I've reach my goal weight and "could" introduce those back into my diet. But, honestly, I can now live without them. I'm very comfortable following my post-op diet and am eating much more healthy foods.
Also, congrats on your relationship. It's fantastic to see couples like you with long-term commitmens and success.
Welcome back. You will see many new people on the board. I occasionally pop my head in now and then. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 4 years that I have been on t his board. This forum was the best for me over the years.
