An amazing journey for sure
Hey GLBT WLS Pals,
I don't get here that often any more but love checking in now and then. At almost three years post-op, time just flies. WLS gave me a new life that I am thankful for.
Two weeks ago I went on an amazing journey on my bike. I cycled to Washington D.C. from Pittsburgh with my best cycling pal. Chuck is a fellow WLS post-op and a married straight man. I give a lot of credit to Chuck for not letting any prejudice keep him from cycling with me over 8 days as we crossed Pennsylvania and Maryland. It was a such an uplifting experience for me. Three years ago I never pictured myself on a bike, let alone a bike for 8 days and over 300 miles!
I hope that all of you get the chance to embrace new life after surgery. I personally have become a different person.
Happy Trails!
Tom

Happy Trails indeed!
Biking is something I am keeping as one of my goals, once I have my knees replaced. Might be able to reclaim my bike, with just one knee replaced and I am so looking forward to that. I love to bike.
Helps to have goals we can attain. This is about the freedom to whatever it is that fills our hearts and minds with joy, our bodies respond so happily to these changes. Life is indeed beautiful.
Biking is in my future, as is kayaking. All sorts of water sports. You mentioned on another post about finding things, active things that you truly enjoy. I am reclaiming all the things I used to love to do as a child. Reclaiming who I am. AND learning new things that I never even imagined I wanted to partake in. It is a wonderful ride, for sures.
