Hey everyone,
I have lost my goal of 146lbs and I am now officially half the person I was when I went in. Does anyone ever have food intake issues...okay I am sure we all have but let me explain. I went to Chicago this past weekend to visit my girlfriends family and her dad made whole weat waffles, so I tried a little, but I felt like I could eat more. It feels like my intake ability has increase alot and I don't want that at all. So I am pretty good about restricting my intake but should I do a pouch check...and if it has stretched out there is no way to shrink it. I mean I honestly don't think one weekend would have stretched out my pouch but I get nervous??

I don't think one weekend would of stretched it ...but everyones pouch stretches naturally! If it didn't we'd all be anorexic with a golf ball sized pouch!

Just remember everything you were taught and you'll be good to go!

Not sure how you do a pouch check. But, I asked my doc about stretching it out and he said it takes PROLONGED overeating to stretch things out.

I, too, am now in maintenance mode and seem to be able to eat more than a few months ago. But, I also weigh myself every morning and every evening. My goal weight is 190 lbs and I'm currently at 186 lbs. I'm not concerned about the amount of food I eat providing that: 1) I don't feel sick and 2) I remain close to my goal weight.

I'm still very careful about what I eat and make sure I'm not taking in junk (like before). But, I'm no longer measuring my portions prior to eating.

I also use www,myfitnesspal.com to track my meals. Great program to see how much sugar, protein, fat, etc. that you're taking in. I then adjust my future meals to remain within my daily guidelines.

Don't worry!  It's natural.  Pouches expand and as we get further out from our RNY,  we can consume larger quantities.  I certainly have been experiencing that... I realized that I found 6 lbs in the past 2 months since our wedding.  So I'm doing the 5 Day Pouch Test right now.  That does help shrink your pouch up a little.  So far so good... i'm on Day 2 and I lost 2.6 lbs in the 1st day.  It's the bomb!

Thanks for the link to the 5-Day Pouch Test. Had a lot of good info in there and I liked the explaination of "slider" foods.

I'm 6 months out now and am back and forth.  There are some days/meals where I can only handle a bite or two before I have to throw in the towel.  Then there are some days (especially RIGHT before the AF shows up and for the first 2-3 days), where it feels like I am tempted to eat EVERYTHING in sight and could physically do so.

I have learned the hard way that when I over-eat (which is still WAY less than even a "normal" meal for me pre-op)....I dump and dump horribly.  I made the mistake of getting some sugar free/low fat key lime pie ice cream at Baskin Robbins when I took the girls to get ice cream a few weeks back.  I couldn't finish the whole thing and by the time we got to Big Lots to buy the sun canopy for my business, I was dizzy, lightheaded, sweating profusely and hit the bathroom about 4 times during that one visit.  I actually had to sit down in the "lawn and garden" section until I stopped sweating.

I have worried about that, too.  Especially with PCOS that is currently being untreated thanks to a friggin' 6+ month wait list for endocrinology at both major medical centers in my area.

There are a couple of things that I can eat MOST of the time without any problems.....6 ounces of fat free/plain organic yogurt with no more than 4 ounces of fruit canned in water or fruit juice (I can my own stuff now) will not bother me 9 out of 10 times, same with string cheese with a few whole wheat Ritz type crackers.

What is the pouch test???
