Rainbow Weigh-In for Week of 29 May
on 5/29/11 1:09 am
Highest Weight: 310 lbs
Surgery Weight: 300 lbs (on 08 Oct 10)
Last Week’s Weight: 192 lbs
Current Weight: 188 lbs
Total Loss: 122 lbs (from highest weight)
Total Post-Surgery Loss: 112 lbs
Weekly Loss: 4 lbs
Well, I surpassed my personal goal of 190 lbs and am 2 lbs below it at 188 lbs. I’ve now lost the combined equivalent of 2-month old horse, an automobile tire (the one I was carrying around my waist), and a rack of baby back ribs.
I've been told that the body “knows" the best weight and will stabilize on its own. But, I’m getting a little concerned because I really don’t want to lose any more weight. At 6’5" I’m looking very thin.
I’ve started eating more “normal" meals and have introduced some carbs (pasta once a week, a slice of bread now and then, and even some deserts on special occasions). Yet the weight keeps coming off.
Should I be worried? Do I need to change my workout to include more weights and less cardio?
I’d appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Glad to see the pounds still dropping. You're right on track with others I've seen at your stage. I think you'll be amazed at how much you've lost when you reach the 6-month mark.
So far you've lost the combined equivalent of an irish setter and a chihuahua or the equivalent of 3 car tires and 10 dozen large eggs. That's a whole lot of progress!!
Surgery weight: 322
Today's weight: 185
Not sure what my goal is. I had thought 172 because that would be half my starting weight and a "normal" BMI. But I have changed that. I am planning to stay between 185 and 190 while I am working out with a trainer and putting on muscle. Almost 10 months out.

So far you've lost the combined equivalent of a newborn giraffe, a mid-size microwave oven, and 2 dozen Kirspy Kreme glazed donuts. Do you miss carrying around the giraffe?
The funny thing is that I usually look at something heavy and think that I can't carry it up all the stairs to my place. Then I realize that a few months ago, I carried a lot more weight than that up the stairs, so a 30 lb bag of potting soil is nothing.
Surgery Weight: 296 lbs (3/0711)
Last Week’s Weight: 240 lbs
Current Weight: 235 lbs
Total loss 61/66 or an elephant's penis (yep, weights more than his heart!)
This weeks loss 5 lbs -
One, I was thinking the same thing and asked my NP about it. She said that if "We" decide that I need to slow it down or pack some back on we can do it with more lean protein or other gainer supplements.
As far as whats right for you, I think thats a personal decision.
For me I was originally saying 195 now I think I set it at 190. (My other half is at 187 ish, so it would be nice to wear the same clothes, then he can't complain about what I am wearing.)
What I dont know about my goal is if thats me being paranoid about getting to skinny or if that mark will move in any direction again. I do know that I will make that decision when I get a lil closer with my docs help. I also know that now with some hard work I can gain lean mass and then keep it.
Hope you all have a good week.
Hugs G
One of the guys from one of my support groups lost about the same amount as you and had a hard time stopping the weight loss and went beyond what his goal and his surgeon's goal was for him. He did up his protein and carbs to level out. Also, take a look at how much exercise you are doing. If you're still doing massive exercise (ie: 90 mins cardio 6x/wk & resistence training on top of that) then you might want to adjust that down a little too. Remember, weight loss = more calories out (burned) than calories in (ingested).
If you are still losing after a couple of weeks after making a little adjustment on your cals in/out then I would suggest contacting your nutritionist to have her/him give you a maintenance eating and exercise plan.
