So happy......
Welcome. The physc eval was easy, just know your stuff. I had RNY on 3/4/2011 and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. You have to listen to what the doctor tells you to do and you have to listen to what your body is telling you (like if it's full, more water, etc). I was off work for 3 weeks (I did work at home some) I have a desk job so there's no heavy lifting. As everyone tells you remember to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. Good luck.
I am 2.5 years out from my gastric bypass with absolutely no problems. I lost 170 lbs and have bounced around within 10lbs of my lowest weight for 1.5 years. I can eat almost anything, with ocassional dumping episodes that serve as good reminders. With liquids, I don't have much restriction but definitely still do with food. I worry lots about regaining. I try to journal my food daily and I do weight myself multiple times a week. I exercise 1/2 hour to 1 hour 4-5 times per week, moderately strenuously.
Plastic surgery was much worse than the bypass, but I'm almost recovered from that now.
I am really happy with my choice and outcome.

Thank you for the responses... I am trying to be realistic about the choices and know that this will not be an easy road... But from what I have heard, rarely people regret this situation.
My partner and I just had twin boys and I am ready to get healthy for them!!! They are my world ....
I am very worried about gaining the weight back... I have strong willpower, but am going to start attending support therapy as well as try to assess what got me to this point...I also have a fantastic support group.
Thank you for your responses and your experiences...and I will keep posting my process....

WLS is certainly not an easy road but I've found it very manageable.
I, too, am very strong willed and eating has been my favorite past-time and comforter for years. I'm now 6 months post-op and have reached my doctor's goal weight. My personal goal is to get 10 lbs below my doctor's goal weight.
I'm amazed at how my body and mind is adjusting after my RNY surgery. The stomach nerves are now back to "normal" and I can feel when the pouch is full. With those "signals" restored, I don't over eat and know when it's time to stop.
I also still track my food intake daily using MyFitnessPal.com. This program really helps me identify and focus on the types of foods I'm eating and reminds me to follow the great eating habits given by my doc and nut.
Believe me, with twin boys you're going to need all your energy to keep up with them. WLS now is a great way to help both you and your family. Go for it!!!
Welcome Mimi. I'm new too and have been very happy to find this board. Congratulations on the twin boys and the choice for a happier, healthier you. I debated the RNY and Sleeve, but opted for the RNY because of improved outcomes for diabetes and a greater percentage of weight loss. (I know the sleeve may get better data as more people have it, but I don't mind going for the RNY now.)
