Goal Weight Met in 6 Months!! Now What???
on 4/7/11 4:36 am
Stepped on the scales yesterday and it showed I had reached my doctor's goal weight for me (200 lbs). Waited until today to make sure the scales were correct and they are!!! I'm ecstatic and very excited that I did it before my 6 month surgiversary (tomorrow).
I would still like to lose 10 lbs more so I can have a little "wiggle" room. But, having met the doctor's goal, what's the next thing step?
I've adjusted well to my new eating habits but want to slow down the weight loss and then hold steady at 190 lbs. Do I keep my same eating routine? Do I slowly start adding "forbidden" foods (such as potatoes, breads, pastas, etc)? Should I start increasing my weight exercises and start decreasing the cardio?
I certainly don't want to undo my current success. But, I also don't want to keep dropping at my current rate.
Finally, thanks to everyone on this board for their help and support. I certainly couldn't do this without you guys.
Have you checked out what your weight would be at a normal BMI? I am still learing of carbs that are not complex....when I wanted to stop losing I added nuts and complex carbs after more protein. But your body will adjust at some point. Everyone I know seems to have had bounce back and you do not want to start going the other direction yet.
It was scarier going lower than I expected but I am happy where I am now...the body seems to go down and then come back alittle if you follow the program. Add protein or fats if you need some....but only complex carbs and in SMALL amounts...
enjoy your successful...but keep doing what is working...Enjoy the new body!

Thanks everyone for your very positive feedback!!
The counsel I'm getting from other post-ops is to keep up my current routine and let the body level out on its own. That's probably what I'm going to do. There are still "lumps" in my stomach and abdomen so I don't think the body is done yet.
Can't believe the change and am so grateful for the surgery and this site.
